| RE: Don't Cook Your Turkey in the Oven |
|
How do you know when it's done? Do you just stick it with the thermometer or do you do it a certain time per pound? My husband likes to kill his own turkey, so it doesn't have the automatic thing that pops out when it's done. Also, is the weber kettle the same as a charcoal grill? ... View related article. |

| RE: Getting the Run Around at the Eye Doctor |
I called my eye doctor and they said that if a patient were to come in and request bi-focal contacts, that they would order a set for them to try for two weeks. If they adjusted well, and very few people do according to the doctor, they would order them a one month supply for about 3 months to make sure that they would continue to like them. Also, they would check their vision each month before they ordered a new set. After that they would order in 6 month intervals with the vision check at each interval for the next year. After that it would be like them wearing regular contacts with yearly check ups.
Bad part is that they said a lot of insurance companies do not cover the bi-focal lenses and that they do not cover the repeated vision checks.
If you are really interested, I'd call around to a few eye doctors in your area and find out their policy with bi-focal contacts. Good luck ... View related article. |

| RE: Getting Rid of Ants |
|
I use Ortho Home Defense in and around the outside of my house. I have a small back and side yard, so I spray it there too. The trigger spray is @7.50 and I use it about every 3 months (everywhere). I have a 3 yro who is highly allergic to ants, so I use it constantly to make sure there are no ants in or around my house. My mom uses it about every 6 months and doesn't have any problems with ants either. She also uses it in her flower beds. ... View related article. |

One thing we've started is we have most things plugged into surge protectors and when we aren't using the devices, we turn off the surge. EX: tv, vcr, dvd, x-box, and stereo-at night I flip the surge and everything shuts down and doesn't draw standby power. We do this with the computer and my son's tv and video systems. We do not do this with our alarm clocks or phone chargers, but we do unplug the chargers when not in use. I've also started drying my clothes on a line outside and keep my dryer unplugged (it's easy to get to) unless I need it (about once a month). ... View related article. |

Wal-mart has some stuff called Odo-Ban. We just finished training our puppy and this is what worked for us. She acted like she didn't like the smell, cause she'd go up to the spot that was wet and sniff, then turn and run. I also sprayed it on my couch and now she won't get up on it. ... | RE: Fixing A Washer That Won't Spin |
|
If it is a fairly new one, (mine's an 06) you might need to reset it. We had a repair man come out and charge us $50 dollars to simply unplug it and reset. To do this, you need to unplug the machine for about 1 minute, then plug it back in and open then close the lid 7 times. If this does not work run the washer on small load without any clothes. Sometimes soap builds up and makes the spinners (?? actual name) get stuck. ... View related article. |

| RE: Making Lasagna For 175 People |
My recipe is simple and feeds 6 with leftovers.
1 lb hamburger (or turkey it's a little cheaper) 6 lasagna noodles 1 can Italian tomato 1 can tomato puree 2 packages of deli sliced mozzarella (11 slices each package) 1 tbsp chili powder 1 tbsp garlic powder ( we love garlic-my mom uses 1 1/2 tsp) 1/2 tsp oregano 1/4 tsp onion salt salt and pepper to taste
Brown meat and drain. Cook lasagna noodles according to package and drain. Blend tomatoe puree and Italian tomatoes along with spices then pour mixture into drained hamburger. Use the little bit of sauce left in the blender or get some out of the pot of meat mixture and spread in the bottom of the casserole pan to keep noodles from sticking. Layer noodles, meat, then cheese and repeat. Cook on 400 for 20-25 minutes on electric stove Cook on 350 for 20-25 minutes on gas stove ... View related article. |

| RE: Removing Butter Stain From Clothing |

I use dawn dishwashing liquid on greasy stains. We love pasta dishes and between 4 kids and a husband who continually "miss" their mouths, we have this issue 3-4 nights a week. A little squirt, let it sit a minute or two (longer depending on how set in the stain is) then rub out under the faucet, clean as usual. This also works on grease stains when my husband works on the cars or changes the oil and drips. ... View related article. |

| RE: Uses for Plastic Coffee Containers |
|
We use them for piggy banks. My youngest 3 are 5, 4, and 2 and a half and it is hard to find any that are not ceramic. Use felt, wrapping paper, construction paper along with stamps, crayons, stickers, and markers to decorate. A pair of scissors and a slim metal file makes a good hole in the lid and the file smoothes out the rough edges. We superglue the lids on the younger 2, but my 5 yo likes to count the money daily. They make them about once a month (even when their other isn't full yet). ... View related article. |
