| RE: Decorating with a Native American Theme |
I too am part Native American. I have decorated my livingroom in that theme as well. I painted my walls a "buckskin" color and my carpet is a neutral beige. I then purchased a relatively cheap area rug that has an Indian theme to it as well to lay over the carpet. My furniture has slip covers in khaki and then I added toss pillows of dark blue, maroon, green etc. I have collected art objects over the years that are Native American made and have some beautiful framed prints as well by talented artists. If you have ever attended a Pow Wow or have the chance to do so you can pick up prints from artists and frame them yourself. I also have a few select dolls and antique Indian jewelry that I have displayed in my living room. I get many compliments on my decor and it is not your "painted on velvet" type of mass produced look that some people use. Just pick a basic color scheme you want and then gradually add to it. | RE: Recycling a Quilt |
I have a favorite quilt that I just hate to part w/and I use it on my bed w/other "used" blankets in the winter. It has seen better days and the top and bottom edges where in tatters. I just turned the edges over and folded them twice over themself and then I hand stitched the quilt and have used it since. It may not look the best but it works for me! ... View related article. |

| RE: Super EZ Bean Dip |
I have found that the Refried Beans w/Chilies are just as good as the expensive "bean dip" you buy that have the snap lids on them. Just open the can and put the beans in a used plastic container. Then when you want some bean dip with your corn chips you have it! It sure beats paying $2 or $3 for a small can of bean dip versus less than a $1 for a big can of refried beans. ... | RE: Drying Clothes Inside |
I found a great way to dry my clothes inside during the winter months. I have a furnace closet and I had my husband put hooks on each opposing wall so I can string clothes lines from the ceiling down to about 2 feet from the floor. I staggered the hooks so I get better ventlation between the clothes and it makes a great "drying closet"! Just be sure you do not have a pilot light in the area you use. I have used this for several years and it is great. The closet has louvered doors so I get to close off the closet and air circulates as well. Hope this helps! ... View related article. |
