I have a T-cup chihuahua and she does this, too. We had her anal glands checked by the vet and everything was ok there. The answer? She has allergies. We have a lot of different weeds around our area and since she's so low to the ground, she gets itchy. When it kicks up really bad, I start her on her vet prescribed allergy medication. She not only scoots her butt, she scratches her ears, etc. It's not fleas since she's also on vet prescribed flea drops, the once a month on the neck kind. ... View related article. |

Like everyone has said; don't waste your money. I've got one and it's just sitting on a shelf. My dog doesn't like the noise and from what I understand, it heats up quickly from friction. Vicks Vapo rub! Sounds strange I know, but it works. You can even get a generic and use it. I think it's the eucalyptus oil in it that does it. I've used it for years. Just apply all over the feet and put on a pair of white socks. My husband even uses it and trust me, he won't even take aspirin when he has a headache. ... View related article. |

No! I thought I would "cheap out" and try it. I walked outside only to find a huge black snake slithering right over the mothballs. Snake-a-way is expensive but it works. Yes, it smells just like mothballs, but it must have other stuff combined with the napthalene (mothballs) that makes it work. I've never tried sulphur so I can't speak for that. When I was growing up my Mom put lime around the gardens because we had a lot of garter snakes where we lived. Just so you know, I live in FL, so this is snake territory and I am terrified of them. Hello, I live in FL., and we have lots of snakes here. I have a fear of them also so I understand where you're coming from. It doesn't help when people tell you to get over your phobia. Snakes, spiders, fear of the dark, and thunder and lightning are the 4 biggest fears. My Dr. told me so.
Anyway, you can buy a product called "snake-a-way". You sprinkle it around the area where you've seen them. For whatever reason they don't like the stuff and will leave. It smells just like mothballs, but it must have something more in it. I tried the mothball thing and walked outside only to find this huge black snake slithering right over the mothballs!
Once again, don't let anybody tell you to "get over it". I myself can't wait until I can move from FL. Wherever I go, it's going to be a condo with no yards to take care of. ... View related article. |
