RE: Christmas Table Decorations
I remember seeing directions for a gumdrop christmas tree. Take a styrofoam cone and glue it to a base (I've seen things like the plastic tops of frosting tubs used as bases, but I'd bet you could do the same thing with white cardboard circles). Anyway, using toothpicks, attach colorful gumdrops all the way around the "tree" covering it. It looks really nice when it's finished. ... View related article.

RE: Dealing With Fibromyalgia
I find that magnesium supplements helps the pain to some extent.

I've just started taking a mangosteen supplement that I've heard helps fibromyalgia when combined with a liquid mineral drink. ... View related article.

RE: Baked Potato Night
WE have done something similar. If I happen to have homemade chili leftover, I will cook the potatoes and heat the chili. Then put the chili on the potatoes and top with shreded cheese. This makes a great winter meal. ... View related article.

RE: Hard Water Stains in The Washing Machine
White vinegar is a great cleaner. I would wet a cleaning cloth with it and rub the soap scum off. ... View related article.

yeast allergy
Hi,
I have a yeast allergy myself, and wanted to tell you that when animals (or people) take anti-biotics the anti-biotics kill the "good" bacteria in the body leaving it open to the bacteria that cause yeast infections. If your dog already has a yeast allergy, it may react to the anti-biotics in the same way it does to yeast. I know that dogs pretty much can take the same things humans can, and humans should take acidolphilus (you can get this in the vitamin section of most grocery stores or any healthfood store). I've pasted 2 links to pet sites that deal with yeast infections. I'm sure you could do a search and get more info.

RE: Growing Herbs in the Winter
I grow herbs (basil, rosemary, oregano, marjoram) in boxes in my kitchen year around. (My rosemary is actually in a spare bedroom in a huge pot, and it's grown so much I think I will have to replant it.) Now, I do live in FL, so I have an excellent source of light coming in my windows. If you live in a part of the country where your sunlight isn't strong in the winter, you might want to add growlights. I would also be sure to keep them warm. Also, every so often my basil tries to go to seed, so I have to remove the flowers. (Once they go to seed, the plant will die, so it's important not to let them flower). Also I feed them with Miracle grow every so often which they appreciate.
Good luck.

RE: Spicing Up Rice
Aside from whatever else you add, you can also add a tablespoon or two of dry ranch dressing powder. That flavors it also. Also, I'd add some Mrs. Dash herbs, as herbs can increase the flavor as well. ... View related article.

RE: The Benefits of Wearing Uniforms to School
I think for many years kids (in public school) in this country weren't required to wear uniforms because it would impose a hardship on parents who didn't have a lot of money (If they had to buy the uniforms from the schools, and couldn't afford them, the kids would suffer). Now the schools here in my part of Florida have designated "uniforms" as a certain style of pants and shirts that parents can buy from regular stores. This is much more fair than the old days (at least with parochial schools) when parents had to order from the schools. ... View related article.

RE: Home Infested With Fleas
I haven't tried these, but I've heard of both of these. One is to put mothballs into your vacuum bag so when you vacuum, the fleas get sucked in with the mothballs. It's supposed to kill them. Another thing I've heard of is spraying pennyroyal oil on your carpets. (I belive health food stores would have this).

Editor's Note: With all the complaints we've had on this site about trying to get rid of mothball smells, I don't know that I'd recommend this. : ) ... View related article.

RE: Getting Coupons in the Mail/freecycle
I don't know about the coupons, but go to the following website:
http://www.freecycle.org/

Freecycle is a great thing. Freecyclers post things that are in good condition. They don't want to trash the stuff, but don't want to be bothered trying to sell it. I have found homes for a lot of stuff (and some great stuff has found its way to my home this way.) Go to the website and see if there is a freecycle group in your area. If there isn't one, consider starting one. You'll be surprised how many people join it once they know it's there. ... View related article.
