Profile For sallypz - Moxie sallypz

Hi. My name is Sally. I have been a thrifty saver all my life. I learned to be thrifty from my mom and dad. I am a single widowed mom in my 50's. I have 2 daughters and 1 grandson. My youngest child is 10. So it's important for me to save money as a single mom. At my age one of my goals is also to save for retirement & come up with a retirement life plan that allows me to nave fun & travel, yet have plenty for my expenses.

RE: Switch To Dollar Stores For Shopping
Agreed. I'm not too proud to shop at the dollar stores to save money. I did a survey of my area and keep a spiral notebook of frugal tips I list which stores have the better prices (in general) on what items. Be careful of '2 for' advertising it is often false. Was at a store the other day say a bag of candy I like the original price for a bag was $3.50 but that day they had it on a special Rollback price of 2 for $7.00. What kind of sale was that? I saved myself $7.00 and tons of calories as I was insulted by that kind of sale and didn't buy any.

Of course, always take a list with you to the store.. Also it's an eye opener to take a pocket calculator too and add up your items as you go along. Then you really have an idea of what you're spending. And/Or leave all the credit cards and ATM card at home and just take a certain amount of cash and purchase to stick within that certain amount of cash. I know that's old fashioned but it works. ... RE: Frigidaire Owners Manuals
I keep a notebook in each room of the house & garage with all the manuals for the items in that room in the notebook. The notebooks are not in plain sight but are in a cabinet or a drawer in the particualr room. It helps in not losing the manuals for appliances/electronic equipment. I am not very mechanical so I figured I needed to keep all the manuals nearby. ... View related article.

RE: Questions About Home Refinancing
As the realtor said the answer is maybe. Depending on the difference in the finance rates. Remember there are always closing costs with refinancing. These costs can be up to $3,000.00 or mre depending on which state you live in. The closing costs is basically money thrown away. Would you save more money by simply paying that $3,000.00 onto the principal of your present loan?? In my case the answer was Yes.so I didn't refinance. It always makes sense to pay a little extra on your principal every month even if it's only $10.00 it saves you huge amounts of money in the future in interest costs. However make sure you tell your mortgage company that that extra money is for the principal only...otherwise they will apply it to some other costs and your effeorts are lost. ... RE: Treadle Sewing Machines Information
There are two companies tht make modern treadle sewing machines. Janome the 712T is a nice looking machine. he other comapany is Singer that makes a dual electric/rtreadle. You need to have a treadle table for either machine. I would like to purchase a Janome, but am having trouble finding a treadle table. There are no modern day manufactures that I can fine, and I hate to destroy an antique to acquire a table. ... View related article.
