The best cream of mushroom soup I ever ate was in Minneapolis, the one and only time I was there. I ate it for lunch and dinner for three solid days; it was that good--thick and rich, wonderful dense flavor, had a little wild rice in it (of course...Minnesota). I'd be eternally grateful if anyone would have a similar-sounding recipe you're willing to share. I've tried to duplicate it myself with very disappointing results. Thanks in advance! I love 'em--eat them right out of the can sprinkled with a little cider vinegar. Also have to have a couple of hunks of Rye-Krisp and some sliced canned beets--also right out of the can. (Come to think of it, lots of things taste ever so much better right out of the can--corn, spinach, green beans, pork & beans--so uncivilized and downright delicious!) My husband and mother think sardines are disgusting, but I just munch away. Watching them grimace is a large part of the fun! ... View related article.
Not a recipe but a word of warning: I would be wary of drinking a lot of soymilk, which is highly touted as quite healthy. Soy contains phytoestrogens--hence, msburny's reference to menopausal symptoms below. I had a hysterectomy over 20 years ago, but just a cup or two of soymilk gives me cramps, bloating, breast pain...the whole nine yards. I would never, ever, ever give soymilk to a boy. Just my two cents worth. ... View related article.
Your garden is simply gorgeous. I'm also interested in knowing what you plant as well as how you built the tiered beds with landscaping timbers. I've googled all over the place for directions for this (esp. how you hold the timbers together and how you attach them to the ground), but evidently I don't have the right search words because I haven't come up with anything yet. Like Janet, I also live out in deep Critter Land, but I'd love to have beds like this around my foundation. Maybe the little darlings wouldn't come that close to the house? (Aw, sure they would!) ... Another very wonderful feature of this website is that you can look up patterns by individual number, and people who have sewn them offer very thorough commentaries on the up- and downsides of the pattern--skimpy sleeves, floppy backs, linings that don't quite fit, etc., often with pictures of the finished product so you can see the garment on a real person--not a Barbie drawing or a professional model. These red flags have saved me a lot of aggravation when cutting into especially prized fabric. ... View related article.

I vote for burgundy - nice spot of color. Don't know your style, but in my "early attic" decor, I'd look for an oriental-type area rug with navy & burgundy. ... View related article.
