My mother taught me to put about a teaspoon of uncooked rice in the salt shaker, which I do, and it never clumps. ... View related article. |

| RE: Stretching Chicken Salad |
|
My favorite way to stretch chicken salad is to add a cup of white rice cooked, (that makes about 2 cups after cooking) I sometimes add some halved grapes, drained crushed pineapple and sliced water chestnuts along with the regular hardboiled eggs, chopped celery and mayonaise. ... | RE: Keep Refilling Pump Lotions To Get Every Bit |

I place a tube of toothpaste on a flat surface and push the back of a comb from the bottom of the tube to the opening. This pushes the last of the toothpaste to the opening. That gathers quite a bit of tooth paste. After that, I cut open the plastic tube and use my tooth brush to gather paste for brushing. Put the opened tube in a zip bag and keep using until all used. Then recycle the plastic tube. Saves quite a bit. ... View related article. |

| RE: Red Wedding Punch Recipe |

This recipe is from a lady for whom I used to work. She catered MANY weddings and the following is her simple recipe. Cold ingredients. 1 large can pineapple juice, 6 cups cranberry juice, one 2 liter bottle ginger ale. Do not add the ginger ale until serving time as it will lose it's fizz in about 15 minutes (in any punch). Pour the ginger ale slowly and mix in gently. If needed: add a little red food coloring. Make an ice ring by freezing cranberry juice in a ring mold. ... View related article. |

| RE: Paint Color Ideas |

I would go with a bright yellow in accessories for the spring and summer seasons. You could use toss pillows or tie wide yellow ribbon (package style) around ones you already have, yellow vases or figures, cover a coffee table book in a yellow cover, hang an inexpensive picture with a lot of yellow in it, put a yellow scarf on a lamp table etc. Change to fall colors when the seasons change to that time. Go to a Dollar shop and look for inexpensive items in yellow. ... View related article. |

| RE: Saving Small Amounts of Leftovers |
|
I keep a 2 cup container in the freezer of my refrigerator and when I have a few vegetables leftover, I put them into the container. When the container is full I have enough mixed vegetables for another meal, as in equal to a can of vegetables! I don't like throwing out a couple tablespoons of food so this is a good way to recycle. ... View related article. |

| RE: Tribute to My Mom |
|
I, too, love to set a pretty table and use my prettiest dishes and linens for my family and friends. I have taught my daughters and sons that the plainest food (like cottage cheese, applesauce, mashed potatoes, etc.) will look appetizing if you put it in a pretty compote or bowl and add something like a cherry, mint sprig, celery leaf, chive sprigs, etc. It takes very little to dress up a bowl of food. A bowl of fruit with a candle on either side (lighted, of course) makes a nice center piece. ... View related article. |
