RE: Are Dog Parks Safe for My Puppy?
The dog parks in our area have separate areas for large and small dogs. Your puppy should be fine if your park has a small dog area and you keep an eye on him. Also, I second the opinion that you should make sure he's had his vaccinations first. You'll need to do this before puppy class anyway. Most of all, enjoy the time you have together! ... RE: Stopping A Rabbit From Chewing
Christine,

Here's a couple of tricks I've learned. First, run your electrical cords through PVC pipes to protect both the cords and your bunny. Place clear plastic strips on the corners of furniture to protect it. Second, provide your rabbit with plenty of things that are okay to chew on. For example, untreated wooden toy. Also, give your rabbit hard, rabbit-friendly veggies, such as broccoli stalks or carrots (not too much or else a rabbit will have diarrhea). None of these will completely prevent the chewing, but should reduce it and the damage considerably. ... View related article.

RE: Eye Soap For Makeup Removal
I use a little bit of inexpensive shampoo to clean my make-up brushes. I've tried the Bare Essentials make-up before and found that the shampoo worked fine. No overpriced eye soap was necessary. ... View related article.

RE: How long does it take to make ice cream in an electric ice cream maker?
It depends on the machine. Our takes approximately 30 minutes to turn the custard into ice cream. ... View related article.

RE: Picky Bernese Mountain Dog
I don't know if this will help, but we have 3 dogs. Our pekingese is rather picky. He'll eat a dog food for awhile and then just stop. What we've ended up doing is buying a large bag of kibble (Nutro) and then mixing it with canned food. We switch up the flavor of the canned food every couple of days, but stay with the same brand. We used to use Natural Balance for the canned, but stopped because of the recall. I think we now use Avo for the canned. Anyway, that works for all our dogs. ... View related article.

RE: Budgeting With Envelopes
We also use the envelope system and I love it! I've been able to slash my grocery bill nearly in half because it forces me to think about everything I purchase.

What I've found that works best for me is to use the envelopes for those categories that I go to a store for, such as gas, groceries, clothing, etc. As SAHM2three noted, I only put the budgeted amount in the envelope and once it's gone, I'm done. This helps me to really track how much I spend for everything. ... View related article.

RE: Saving Money on Flea Prevention
I know they're expensive, but I've found that only Frontline or Advantage works for us. I have a dog who's allergic to fleas. One bite and we'll end up at the vet's office and about $150 poorer. The cheaper types of monthly treatment, simply don't work and flea collars are treated with pesticides. Not a good thing to place around your pet's neck! ... View related article.

RE: Healthy Ways to Cut Calories
I can really relate to this. My husband has a high metabolism and loves to ride his bike. I, on the other hand, am not so blessed, have a sedentary job and love to cook. What I've found works the best for me is a combination of things:

1. Smaller portions
2. Low cal snacks, such as fruit and veggies, especially before a meal. This helps curb my apetite.
3. Forcing myself to get some exercise such as walking.
4. Limit eating in restaurants.

I would probably be more successful if I was willing to cook separate meals, but that just isn't going to happen.

Hope this helps! ... View related article.

RE: What is crating?
The ancestors of our domesticated dogs slept in dens, as many wild types of dogs still do. Using a kennel as a den works with a dog's natural instincts and gives them a space that is theirs alone. Just make sure that the crate is the proper size, especially if you're using it for housebreaking. The crate should be large enough to allow the dog to stand, turn around and lay down, but not much larger. I hope this helps. ... View related article.
