Yes, there are small amounts of hazardous materials in the LCD and computer components. Lead and Mercury are probably the biggest concern. The amounts are so small that taking one apart every now and then is not a problem. The big problem with so-called "e-waste" is how much of it is piling up in landfills across the country (the cummulative effect of millions of LCDs / computer components).

They are not necessarily sending mail from your account. They are probably sending it from their own account, but putting your email in the FROM field. When an email delivery fails, the receiveing server sends the notification back to whatever address is in the FROM field. With the right software, you can put any conceivable address in the FROM field, and it's very common for spammers to put the "wrong" address there. Think about it this way: you could send a letter to someone but a different "return address" on the envelope. On the surface, it would look like the other guy sent the letter. ... University of Phoenix is Regionally Accredited (a good sign), but the general consensus among the powers that be (employers, etc) is that the "online" universities are at the same level as community colleges. The consensus is wrong, but that is the consensus still. To avoid a war in academia, they try not to "compete" with traditional universities.
