| RE: Subtract Savings First |
|
I let my bank do the moving for me. I have it set up to automatically transfer a set amount to savigs each month. Also I have it set up with no ATM card. And for the statement to come in a separate envelope from my checking account statement. I only look at the savings statement once every 3 months. Between times--don't see, don't remember, so don't spend! I also have all the securities that are offered by my bank attached to both my accounts to help with fraud. ... View related article. |

| RE: Use Netflix for DVDs |
This one is a definite thumbs up! I've been a member of Netflix for over 3 yrs now and you're right, we have saved literally thousands of dollars over that time.
So many people harp about getting movies from the library and yes, that is a good source. However, if your library is small like ours is, they don't have that many movies. More times than not I can only find one or two movies that I haven't seen many times over.
I pay $18.31 and get 3 movies at a time with unlimited Instant Viewing on the computer. And to top it all off, the customer service people at Netflix are the best customer service people I have ever dealt with any time, any where. They are extremely nice, extremely professional, extremely helpful, and extremely knowledgeable about any problem that comes up. I have never enjoyed dealing with a company as much as I have with Netflix. ... View related article. |

| RE: Cleaning Your Bed Linens |
I'm with you Robin! I can't even imagine going a month without washing my sheets! Yuck! Like Maria, I wash my sheets weekly and my blankets monthly. When we are sick, I wash the pillow cases daily and air the pillows out. I have 2 sets of pillows for each bed. While one set is being used, I air the other out. I also like Lynda's idea of using alcohol to clean with! Never would have thought of that in the bedroom! ... View related article. |

| RE: Organizing The Linen Closets |

Another good idea would be to get some of those plastic suit protector bags like you use when packing a suit for traveling. Hang your linens in there, especially the seasonal and holiday ones. That way they don't get dusty between uses. ... View related article. |

| RE: Keeping Linens Together |
|
I like this idea almost. When I fold them, I fold the flat sheet first, then the fitted sheet and lay it on top of the flat sheet. Then I fold all pillow cases that go with that set and put them at one end of the flat sheet. Then I simply fold them all up together. I don't like putting them inside the pillowcases because I don't like the dust getting on the pillowcases. This way the pillowcases are still clean when I go to use them. ... View related article. |

| RE: Adopted Cat Won't Use Litterbox |
I tried the cage trick. OMG! What a mess! He dumped his water all over the place then got himself all wet from it. Then he proceeded to sit in the cat box (even tho there was more than enough room outside the cat box and his bed was in there too). It took me almost an hour to get the cage, box, bed, dishes and floor around the cage cleaned up. Then another 20 minutes to give the cat a bath and get all that clumping litter out of his fur! Won't do that one again with this cat! I know, it usually is a good solution but not with this one! The vet checked him out and doesn't believe it's stress or anything other than behavior, and stubbornness. He's got till this Friday then he's going back to his original owner. ... | RE: Measure Ahead of Time |
|
It seems like such a "DUH" thing, but how many of us actually do this? I know I used to be very guilty of not doing it, till I got half way thru making something only to realize I didn't have a vital ingredient once too often. Now, whether it's an extravagant meal, or a simple soup and sandwiches meal (ever try to make sandwiches when you're out of bread? LOL) I always pull out and measure ingredients ahead of time. ...
