| RE: Buying Countertops Online |
Tile the counter. Its not too difficult. You can customize it easily, the most inexpensive ways are to use white field tiles, and use broken colored tiles as mosaics. You can add a mosaic of any colors or design by breaking broken tiles up. Broken tiles can be bought for next to nothing.Mosaic designs can be copied from anything. Tiles wear well and are heat resistant. Let your imagination run wild. Remember to seal the grout well.
You can see our kitchen re-do which included tiled counters and backsplashes under "Home Improvement" Photo tips dated mid November 2005. There are before and after pictures.

| RE: Painting Discolored Grout |
|
Clorox Clean-Up works great, as does Fantastik on mine. You may try regrouting with new grout over the old- some are better than others. Then after its the color you like or you regrouted, seal the grout. Follow the directions and do it more than once. I have cobalt blue and also white tiles with white grout, and I have gotten out berry stains, tea, coffee, tomato sauces, beet juice, kool-aid and many other stains........of course not all at the same meal! Good Luck. ... View related article. |

Paint 3 walls a neutral- a warm khaki color and paint 1 wall deep claret red ( remember to prime under deep colors). Add some dark red glass accessories. These will add sparkle. Add some deep red berries to your floral arrangements and some patterned pillows with the deep red in the pattern for accents. Perhaps even some deep red velour or shanille pillows. Keep the woodwork white or ecru.
The deep red will change your nice room into one your guests will say"WOW" to and admire. ... View related article. |

| RE: Is Using Bar Soap Safe? |
I am a registered nurse. I have been taught by "Infection control " nurses for years that liquid soaps are preferable in public places. That is why you see liquid soaps in public lavatories and hospitals. Bar soaps in your home are fine, but rinsing it before you are done and storing it is a good practice. Remember it is the action of friction with the soap & water to loosen dirt and germs with a good rinse to "wash" them away. In public don't touch the "dirty"taps after your hands are cleanly washed, get into the habit of using your elbow, back of your forearm or better yet the paper towel you dried with, to turn off the faucet taps.
Just ask anyone that works in the"healthcare" or the "food service" industries the methods they were taught for correct & effective "hand washing" and teach this to children. Teaching children to actively scrub with soap and water for 30 seconds........ until they have sung a specific song like "Row,row, row your boat" is a good way to get them to comply.
Actually the act of friction, soap and water sudsing ,the amount of time , effective rinsing and not avoiding the recontamination at the tap are far more important than "bar" vs"liquid" soap. ... View related article. |
