RE: Butcher's Specials
In the UK local butchers are well worth visiting. Not only are they more flexible than supermarket chains but they have great specials and "homemade" stuff you'll never find anywhere else! - local sausages etc. WELL WORTH A GO! All the best! Julie x ... View related article.

RE: Planning a Commitment Ceremony
Congratulations to you guys! - Civil Partnerships have just become legal in the UK (what is this? - victorian era!) Me and my husband got married in April and didn't have a professional photographer. It saved us a fortune and everyone loved NOT being bossed around by a random stranger! We made all the invites ourselves and table decorations, the cake and we had karaoke, so even made the entertainment ourselves! Our biggest saving was having a barbequeue in the evening - with the BEST people ever...IT WAS ACE!!!!!! the whole shebang cost aroung £3000 - whats that in dollars?....about $5000, that included outfits. (rented of course!) Good luck to you both - sincerely. Keep an eye on Thrifty fun, I got ideas for cootie catchers and wedding favours...even had an idea about decorating the cake from this little gem, if you need an e-hand give us a shout! - Julie in London x ... RE: Christmas Too Commercial?
Christmas is, (without a doubt) far too commercial. I make my husbands gifts by hand, and try avoid spending the national debt! I love your idea of receiving 3 gifts like Jesus did. I always say; 1) something homemade 2) something to play with 3)Something to eat. 4) Something to wear - however old are you are! In the future I will think of the big 3! Merry Christmas from London! x ... View related article.

RE: Homemade Christmas Ornaments
You can buy polestyrene balls from craft shops in the UK, which, if you pin sequins all over them or in patterns with ordinary sewing pins look fabulous.

Also I remember making angels out of Badminton Shuttlecocks when I was a kid they still look cute now! ... View related article.

RE: Saving Money on Diet Items
I think the best diet tip is learn how to make yourself delicious food! I buy fresh fruit and veg once a week (which are cheaper than cookies and chips) and make salsa, soups and chiles....and enjoy every moment of our life! We all know how to diet - its just a case of being sensible!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! :-)

RE: A Birthday Calendar as a Wedding Gift
One of the best wedding gifts we received (got married in April) was a "Night In Kit" - what a fabulous idea! It contained a couple of DVD's, some scented candles, a bottle of wine, a romantic CD, and some sensual oil!!!!!! brilliant idea - all came in a hand painted presentation box - covered with glitter! x ... RE: Uses for Old Socks
The big question is....."where does the other sock go?"!!!!

Most lost things are under the microwave, or down the side of the couch.....but socks.....

Goodness knows!

The answer isn't 42 in this case!

RE: Ideas For 77th Birthday Party
How about a couple of songs from 1977....

eg: Elvis Presley "Way Down"

or Float On "The Floaters"

or "Lucille" by Kenny Rogers

or Name of the Game by "ABBA" (of course!)

You could decorate the room with lucky 7's.

Your friend will have a wonderful time - good luck with it!

RE: Handcrafted Gifts for Men
I made my husband a calendar, with some groovy pictures of the two of us and things he likes.....

A guitar strap is fairly easy to make....(if applicable!)

Tshirts handpainted with words and slogans are good....check out

for some really good ideas!

all the best,
