RE: Lap Dog Recommendations
My mom has a wonderful miniature dachshund. She is the most loving little lap dog! When she was a puppy she was restless and chewed things, but since reaching adulthood she has calmed down. She would sit in Mom's lap all day if she could! Also she is low-maintenance, being a smooth short-hair. ... View related article.

RE: Salma Muhammed's Question
Salma asked for acne advice previously in this thread. Here's what I use: apricot scrub with salicylic acid and 10% benzoyl peroxide cream, fragrance-free moisturizer only on the dry spots and oil-free sunscreen. ... View related article.

RE: I Have Been Coughing Since I Moved Into a New Apartment
You need to address this problem. I lived in a house with mold issues for years and it adversely affected my health. Contact your local Public Health department. They can advise you, perhaps send someone out to your apartment for an assessment. If you are renting this unit, your landlord may be responsible for remediation. ... View related article.

RE: Acne Face Wash Advice
Try medicated Apricot Scrub with salicylic acid. Also try 10% benzoyl peroxide cream over the affected area. I find both these items in my local big-box retailer under the Equate generic name.

Be sure to wash your face morning and evening. Moisturize with a fragrance-free moisturizer only on the dry spots. I recommend daily sunscreen use too. Use an oil-free variety. ... View related article.

RE: Painting Over Indelible Marker
Did your painter use Kilz or other special stain-blocking primer? If not, have him try it over the current coat of paint. ... View related article.

RE: Cleaning Your Bed Linens
Washing bedlinens once a week is a good practice. Use warm water and a little bleach, and dry thoroughly on medium-high heat. This will kill some of the dust mites and bacteria. For extra dust mite protection I recommend you purchase zippered allergen-barrier covers for your box springs, mattress and pillows. These covers are available in vinyl but I prefer the newer and slightly more expensive fabric variety which "breathes" and doesn't make that crinkly plastic sound! You should also vacuum under and around your bed regularly. ... View related article.

RE: Substitution for Cream in Truffles
You could try the following, but no guarantees!
Fat-free plain yogurt.
Fat-free Half-N-Half (available here in the US, don't know if you have it there).

RE: Saving Money on Teeth Whitening
Frequent toothbrushing helps whiten your teeth. I make sure to brush after each time I eat, and especially after each cup of coffee or tea. I keep a travel toothbrush and paste in my purse for this, so no matter where I am I can brush. Once a day, I add a little baking soda to my toothpaste -- this adds an abrasive action which helps loosen stains. Also once a day -- but not right after using baking soda! -- I rinse my mouth with hydrogen peroxide. Swish around in your mouth for at least one minute. Be sure not to swallow any -- it burns all the way down! ... View related article.

RE: "Just For Men" Not Working For Me
The way permanent hair color works is: the chemical action opens the cuticle of the hair strand, allowing the new color to permeate it. Gray hair, which is simply hair that has lost its pigmentation, tends to be tougher and thicker than pigmented hair. That's why gray hair is so hard to cover! I must say, being a woman, I agree with the many posts from other women who love the look of gray hair on men. However, it's your choice, and I'd recommend you just try a different type of permanent hair color -- the type advertised for women, such as L'Oreal or Garnier. No one will know by looking at your head if you used Just for Men or Nice N Easy. ... View related article.

RE: Adult Acne
I use 10% benzoyl peroxide cream on the affected areas twice a day after washing my face. If, like me, you have an oily T-zone, wash with a mild fragrance-free soap like Dove. I only moisturize my face around the eyes, cheeks and neck. I also use apricot scrub on my face regularly -- helps exfoliate. I have found that facial care products with added fragrances irritate my skin, causing bumps and redness. So I only use fragrance-free, non-comedogenic products. ... View related article.
