RE: Repairing a T-shirt
There is a fusible webbing made for stretchy knit fabrics, such as t-shirts are made of. I recently found some at a yard sale, but I assume it's still available at sewing stores like Hancocks and JoAnne's. Just ask one of the employees for a fusible web that is used for knits, as specialty fusibles are sometimes stored some place you'd never think to look on your own, lol. ... View related article.

RE: Dog Peeing Inside House
We had a dog who did that a few times, at around a year of age. It didn't occur to us that it was serious until one day she also defecated so we rushed her to the vet. He said it was some sort of seizures, though the dog only lay there still, looking at us as she did it, so we'd not known. It only lasted a little bit, then she'd be acting normal afterward. That particular vet said our little dog would need a seizure med for life. We later discontinued it on the advice of another vet, and she never had another one and lived to be 16 years old. It seemed to be some sort of thing that our particular dog grew out of, but you really should go see your vet. It may be something that can be helped easily with medication. ... View related article.

RE: Sink Smells Bad
I agree with the one who suggested a drain snake, & would like at add a bit more. We had the same problem with a sink drain. When nothing helped, I used a thing sort of like a small drain snake, but it has a round brush bristles surrounding the end of it for an inch or two. After pushing it down through the drain far enough that I could tell it had gone through the drain U-shaped thingie, and pouring some baking soda down to help it scrub back and forth a few times, the smell went away. It was a cheap item, something found around the same aisle with the replacement kitchen faucets at Walmart in our area, home centers like Lowe's probably have them, too. Every so often, I use it on all the drains in the house & it keeps us from having clogs or odor. ... View related article.

RE: Psoriasis on the Scalp
A friend of mine had a thick patch of it on her scalp and used Vick's Salve, but I don't remember how she learned about it. The hard patch of scales just sort of came off within a day or two I think, and the spot healed right up, but the Vick's Salve was really hard to wash out afterward. Soon after, she discovered a "Vick's Cream" that doesn't leave a residue, & she found it to be just as effective to keep the itchy patch from returning.

Since then, I had a patch on my ankle for weeks, finally remembered & got some of the cream version, and it made it go away. The patch starts to come back if the cream isn't applied for a few weeks, so every so often, I use it again. It's at the Walmart pharmacy in our town for around $6, comes in a tube like hand lotion, but I sort of remember it being in a box on the shelf next to the salve version. I'd never be without it again and am so glad my friend told me about it. ... View related article.

RE: Review: Redbox for Cheap and Convenient Movies
We love Redbox! We use it at least once a week. If you sign up at www.insideredbox.com then you get a free movie code emailed to you every Monday, good only for renting on that Monday, to take the movie back by the next night. (Once we signed up, we went to another area of that website and found a list of movie codes that work at either McDonald's or Walmart for one time each.) On the free Monday movies though, if hubby checks out one movie on his bank card, and I put one on mine, we actually get two for free on Monday. :^) As long as you take it back by Tuesday night, they don't bill your card. We do pay for a movie here and there during the week, lol.... but Mondays are a lot nicer with free movies. :^) ... View related article.

RE: Product Testing Websites
Please don't sign up for the creativehomeartsclub.com someone mentioned here, or at least don't do it before you google that name along with the word 'scam', or do a google search along with 'spam mail'. Sure wish I'd looked it up first before I signed up. If you've already signed up and used your credit or debit card to become a 'member', you might want to RUN to the bank or call your credit card company and have a new number issued to you. Just tell them that you believe someone has fraudulently obtained your account number, and they'll usually change it immediately so that you won't get any surprise billings. Sigh... there's no free lunch, folks, and no free wonderful test products in your future from that site. ... View related article.

RE: Warning About Treadmill Dangers For Children
Thank you for posting this warning! I still have nightmares about the day a man brought his small grandson over to our house (which is not childproofed because we don't have children visiting normally) without telling us in advance that he was bringing the child. The little boy got out of our sight for just MOMENTS while I was pouring coffee. I glanced into another room over the top of the counter and saw the top of his head and his fingers reaching up toward the treadmill switch. ONE moment more and the treadmill would have thrown him backwards into a steel cabinet. My scream just barely stopped him in time. After that, I tell everyone to unplug their exercise equipment if children are in the house and watch them carefully, because it only takes a moment for something awful like this to happen. **Also a note to anyone taking any child along to a house you've never been to before, please ASSUME that it's not childproofed...just because you are used to small children around does not mean everyone is. This could have been a disaster, and I am STILL disturbed by the close call. This warning someone posted here today is really good and may save another child. I appreciate your taking time to tell us, even though the news is very sad about that poor child. ... View related article.

RE: Eat A Leaf Of Poison Ivy To Prevent Reactions
Along the same lines, some health food stores carry a brand of teeny sugary pills that have a minuscule amount of poison ivy extract that seems to be safe. All the local landscapers and park service people around here use them to make them immune to poison ivy. A good friend told me about it a few years ago and it's worked for me on the seasons I remember to use it. I think it's about $8.95 a bottle, but the bottle of teensy pills lasts for months. I'm so allergic to poison ivy that I'd be terrified of eating a leaf, but I've never had any problem with the little pills and I'm taking them again this year. Still, if we touch poison ivy and know it, we wash in Dawn Foaming dish liquid and that removes the oil. It seems to work as well as the ivy remover from Walmart. Before I started the pills again, I got blistered from ivy a little higher up than I washed on my arm. Now I tell people to take the Dawn pump bottle into the shower instead of the sink, lol... ... RE: Prevent Curly Bacon By Using Your Oven
I agree with you, baking is the easiest fastest way to make bacon without a mess, so I cut my package of bacon in half, then make a couple of jelly roll pans the same time then drain and keep it in the fridge for several days. It reheats in just a few seconds in the microwave, usually 10 to 15 seconds is enough for us. It's perfectly sized for sandwiches that way, too. By the way, use parchment paper and it won't stick... also, if you shake the bacon slices in a bag with a little flour, it's won't shrink as much. ... View related article.

RE: Survey Advice
I received a check in the mail for $7 today from one company, and I've gotten enough points for gift cards for doing surveys, plus some inexpensive items to test. Most of the surveys you'll see from online only put your name in a sweepstakes or give a very small reward though. It's sometimes interesting, but only one true market research company I've done surveys for has really 'rewarded' it enough to make it worth the time, and it's one that can't just be signed up for online. If you're going to work with any of the internet survey companies, check them out on surveypolice.com to see what participants say about them first. Very, very, very few are worth the time. I only joined some because I was ill for a long time and looking for something to occupy my time during recovery, and it took a couple months of getting long boring surveys before I was given any rewarding surveys. I liked getting full sized test products occasionally and coupons to try things for free, but trust me, you aren't going to make much money and you'll spend a LOT of time, wondering why you ever tried it, lol... but, yes, I still do a few. Haven't a clue why, other than habit, lol... ... View related article.
