RE: Do Mixed Breed Dachshunds Have Stronger Backs?
No. Since a mixed breed doxie is still a doxie mix, they still have a chance of having a bad back.

I have a corgi mix who I believe has dachshund in her, as well. Though she isn't short; she still has two breeds in her make up that may have back problems. And, she has an arch in her back. So, even though she's not short and a mutt, I STILL watch how often she jumps and how she reacts to back injuries, etc.

RE: Is Cat Food Bad for Dogs?
While some dogs can survive solely off cat food and do fine (my mom had a Pomeranian that did), it isn't recommended as many dogs can react VERY badly to it. My dog, Sandy, was fed a can of cat food every morning when we first got her because it was cheaper (I find it funny someone said dog food is cheaper. I think it's the other way around). It literally tore up her system. Luckily, we caught it before it did permanent damage. But, we learned our lesson and right after that, All our cat food eating dogs were switched to dog food. If your dog doesn't like kibble, why not try canned? ... View related article.

RE: Dog Food For Almost Nothing
"Our vet said: "they have taste buds too, wouldn't you get tired of eating the same thing everyday just as they have?""

That's funny and true. So many people say that dogs have less taste buds than us. What they forget is that taste is about 90% smell and dogs have a stronger sense of smell. So wouldn't their sense of smell make up for those missing taste buds? You'd think so.

I never get values like that one. I do, however, send out for coupons every now and then. I got a Blue Buffalo coupon for $5 off which came in handy. I also constantly get "Buy so many, get your next purchase free" Which, also, comes in handy. ... View related article.

RE: Storing Large Bags of Dog Food
I store my food in an airtight container that came with an Iams purchase years ago when I still fed Iams. I usually wouldn't because, the type of plastic it is. It could get grain mites (while not harmful, the bugs are disgusting). But, with 6 dogs going through the food. It's gone fast, anyway. So the food doesn't sit in there for months. It holds about 35 lbs of food. I keep it in my laundry room. ... View related article.
