| RE: Diet Plan After Gallbladder Surgery |
Hi Julie. I had my gall bladder removed last year on 08.12.08 by laparoscopy. Thankfully I continue the same diet as before less the fatty foods and I have not had any problems. My surgeon had said just avoid the fats. I have since eaten McDonald's and pizza as a treat and have not had problems. By removing my gall bladder my indigestion and heart burn have all gone away as well. All the best with your surgery. Regards, Pat. ... View related article. |

| RE: My Frugal Life: Living On Less |
You offer very good practical advice. I like your tip on using water bottles with sand or water for weights. You've just saved me some money there because I was thinking of buying some. I have saved AUD 1296.00 per year buy cancelling my Foxtel Pay TV subscription and my family and I have taken up reading instead of TV. Heaps more choice that way. :-) ... View related article. |

| RE: My Frugal Life: Have A Garage Sale |
What a good idea. I never thought of having an annual garage sale. I have had 3 garage sales but see them as a chore. I suppose you make yours similar to a market stall selling your arts and crafts at good prices which is a good way to use up your stash. I think you have motivated me into having one rather than selling on ebay. I just don't like calculating the postage. Thanks Pat ... View related article. |

| RE: Budgeting Groceries for a Family of Four |
Thanks to all to have replied. To answer a few questions, I have a little vegies garden. I grow silverbeet, tomatoes, herbs and I have an orange tree and a yummy fig tree. I have to put wire around everything so my two chooks won't pick at everything when they free range in the afternoon. We don't have food coupons in Australia but if we did I am sure my husband and I will be the Coupon King and Queen. I usually cook from scratch and enjoy it. I am challenged by my youngest daughter who is very fussy with her food. As I am training myself to stay with the $150 budget I have started to stick the grocery receipts in an exercise book. Once I get home and put the groceries away I get a pencil and mark the groceries on the receipt that in hindsight I think I could have done without. This disiplines me for the next time of go shopping. I now think it is achievable to spend $150 or less but when my next challenge will be to keep within the budget when we invite family and friends over for lunch or dinner. Take care and good luck to sticking with you limites. Regards Pat ... View related article. |

| RE: Workplace Christmas Gift Ideas |
Yes, I agree with Karen. Here in Australia we have the $2 shops and we call them the Junk Shop. They do serve their purpose at times. I think homemade and handmade is wonderful. I think it humbles people and reminds them of what is special. This year I gave my work colleages a little home made Christmas Pudding I purchased from the Trefoil Girl Guides (Scouts) nicely wrapped at that cost AUD 4 each which is pricely for me. Next year hope to give my work colleagues home made cards with an enclosed hand made book mark. I am going to cross stitch them for the ladies and paint some for the blokes. All the best with whatever you decided. Cheers! ... View related article. |
