RE: Pound Cake Came Out Dry
Don't waste your dry cake! Try making a glaze to pour over it to moisten it back up. Put your cake back into the pan you baked it in, then use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke lots of holes in it. In a small sauce pan, put a stick of butter, about 3/4 or 1 cup of sugar and a tsp. of flavoring of your choice (almond, vanilla, etc.) bring to a boil and pour over the cake in the pan. Let sit about 10-15 minutes then invert on your plate. I use this method for making rum cake--bake cake with rum in it and then boil rum in the glaze. Yumm.... Hope this idea helps when you need a "save"! ... View related article.

RE: Getting Rid of Fire Ants
There is a product made by Bengal. Itt's a white powder that will zap a mound quicker than you can imagine! We used to use the Amdro Ant Bait but it took a few days to work. My DH brought this product home and it works like a charm. We have two dogs in the yard, we keep a close eye on the it when we use it!
Good Luck! StefPaints ... View related article.

RE: Streak-Free Windows
I use plain old water with a microfiber cloth from the Dollar Store. Don't even have to wipe dry! Just wring the water out of the cloth really well to where it's barely more than damp. Before I found microfiber cloths, I used vinegar and either newspaper or paper towels. A friend of mine has used fabric softener to clean her windows. I haven't tried this but she says this makes the brightest windows and even smells good! Also, be sure you're not washing your windows while the sun is shining directly on them. The heat from the sun dries the cleaner off the glass before you get it wiped!
Hope this helps!

RE: Ideas for a Mother's Day Breakfast
Dollar Tree! You'd be surprised what you can find there. Also, the plant idea goes a long way for a little money. Maybe some herbs in a small terra-cotta flower pot tied with a pretty ribbon. If this is over budget for you, you could make refrigerator magnets--we all use them! Wooden hearts and a permanent marker to write on them. Craft stores have packages of wooden hearts and magnet strips/buttons.

I tape my wood piece on a piece of cardboard before painting them. It keeps your fingers clean and also the backs are neat. You don't want to glue anything (magnet) to a painted surface anyway. It'll pop off if dropped! Wal Mart has a cheap clear spray for a little over a dollar "Color Place" brand. After your paint is dry and you've written on them, lightly spray a coat of clear, let dry and spray a few more coats allowing to dry in between. This will keep the marker from bleeding or smearing. Good Luck and you're such a sweetie to do this for your friends! ... View related article.

RE: Removing Window Clings from Plastic Windows
Not sure how alcohol will effect acrylic/plastic windows. Test a patch first. Have you tried cooking oil? Try working it in around the edge and it might make it slippery enough to remove. Also I think the Goo-Gone might be a good try as well. Test before applying in a large area! Some Goo Gone packages come with a plastic scraper that won't scratch your surface. I just got one last week in my package. Good Luck! ... View related article.

RE: Keeping Dogs from Digging
We have moles that tunnel in our yard and two large dogs that will dig for them! What our dog trainer told us to do was to scoop some of their poop and put it in the hole. They won't go near it! If you are filling the hole, put the poop towards the top and toss a little dirt over it so it's not so gross! My dogs now only dig every once in a while! Good Luck! ... View related article.
