| RE: Shop Thrift Stores for Great Deals |
My favourite thrift store find is a huge stainless steel pot I use for bulk cooking chilli and stew, etc. It cost me $14 and is of good heavy quality so I'm sure could easily have cost $50-$70 new (at a guess). I also like to buy knitwear from thrift shops. I often find good-as-new jumpers for at least 1/4 of what I'd pay new elsewhere. ... View related article. |

| RE: Clothing Exchange Parties |
|
I also live in Australia and have held two clothes swap parties at home after reading about them online. I got together with friends from work and neighbours and we all decluttered our closets and brought several pieces each. We had to have a few rules, such as each person could only take 3-5 items at a time to try on, to make it fair for everyone. Everyone brought some nibblies and I provided tea/coffee/soft drinks and music. We all had a great time, some got new-to-them outfits and anything left over was donated to charity stores and dropped off by the host (me). I think this is a great idea and thanks for sharing :) ... | RE: Use Cutlery Tray for Desk Drawer Organizer |
I wasn't even aware you could buy specific desk drawer organizers like this! Luckily for me this 'very' cheaply found cutlery tray did the same job :) I had intended to use it in my second utensil drawer in the kitchen but couldn't quite scrub it up to my 'kitchen clean' standards. Worked perfectly in this drawer instead though. As mentioned the sliding 4 compartment top tray lifts off so I have more stationary bits 'n bobs stored underneath. ... View related article. |

| RE: Hooks For Hanging Jewelry |

This looks great and reminds me of a tip I read quite some time ago about recycling the old kitchen utensil wall plates with prongs as necklace storage. Key racks would alsobe an easy alternative. Thanks for sharing, it's a great tip for keeping necklaces untangled and easy to choose between :) ... View related article. |

| RE: Budget Kitchen Remodel |
|
It looks really great. Congratulations, the effort was surely worth the end result. You're much braver than I was, I just repainted our cabinet doors, wasn't game to attempt tiling so left that to hubby as he's had lots more practice. You've encouraged me to be braver :) ... View related article. |

| RE: Refurbished Yard Swing |
|
The frame looks great. I really need to do this with my swing frame as it has rust marks from rain getting at it. I was going to use hammerite paint on it. I have a knitted throw tossed over the cushions as a temporary measure, at least it's washable :) ... View related article. |

| RE: Painting Laminate Walls |
|
Not sure if you mean to use varnish or paint. I can only comment that when I painted my laminate kitchen cupboard doors with specific laminate paint (sanding first and using a laminate primer) that I was able to remove the doors so I could paint them flat and allow them to dry between coats. But...the end panels on the wall and base cupboards had to be painted vertically as I couldn't (didn't) remove them. I didn't have a problem with paint runs, I suppose if you're careful not to overload a brush/roller it should be fine. ... View related article. |
