Profile For kladybug - kladybug

Hello, I am a married Mom of 2 kids, 11 & 13 and a child care provider for 6 more. I work at home which is thrifty because I don't commute or need much of a fancy wardrobe.

I like to read, books and my computer, and do crafts and watch TV.

My DH is suffering from Chronic pain which may end up disabling him so we are struggling a bit- all in a days work.

RE: Picking a Baby's Name
I know a family that have children named Willow and Ivy, I tell them that I want a little brother named Aspen. That is my suggestion although Forest is nice too. ... View related article.

RE: Making Curtains Out Of Sheets
I buy clamp on rings at our local discount store and just clip them on and hang them up. I like them because it's easy to move the curtains aside. ... View related article.

RE: Tips for Starting an In-Home Daycare
One thing that I did not think of was how my own kids would feel about sharing me, their home, and all the stuff that goes along with it. My DD, 12, always loved having the other kids around and didn't really mind. My son, 11 really did not like to share me and his world as a toddler. They both have their favorite kids and have others that they dislike as they have grown older. Also, My DH would love for me to work outside "his house" after 12 years but I cannot afford to start over at this point.
So, consider the effect that it will have on your family. That is something I didn't even consider when I embarked on this journey. ... View related article.

RE: Helping Child Get Ready in the Morning
Get the stuff ready the night before! Make a checklist of things that she needs to do starting a half hour before bedtime. That way the list is the bad guy and you only have to nag to check the list instead of multiple things. Have a before bed routine and a morning list as well. My kids lists are in their heads now but at this age they need a visual to let them know what's next. You can use stickers to motivate and an even earlier bedtime as a consequence. www.flylady.net is very helpful in developing routines! ... View related article.

RE: Is My Son a Vegetarian?
That's funny, I think your son lives with me! But he just turned 11 here. I am happy to say that he seems to be getting better with age. For many years at holiday meals he would have rolls with peanut butter. We made an only one substitute meal(usually PB and fluff), a day. He also may have a bowl of cereal at bed time. I try to include at least one item that I know he will eat at meals that I cook. But, I refuse to be held hostage by his eating whims. He now eats cheese, chicken, hard boiled eggs, and mashed potatoes that he would not eat a year ago.
He asked me at the age of 3," what animals did this come from?" at the meat counter. The only meat that he ate for years was...McDonalds cheeseburgers, plain. He has tried pork and beef, turkey and fish but prefers not to eat it.
Lastly, when he was really little he told other kids that ketchup is "fish blood". Some of the food preferences just come out of their own little minds. ... View related article.
