RE: Donating Old Cell Phones
The Furry Friends Foundation is collecting any old cell phones. If you have any old phones (even old bag phones) you'd like to donate, you can donate the phone at www.wirelessfundraiser.com - selecting Furry Friends Foundation in Chicago as your charity of choice. They will send you a pre-paid shipping box. If the phone is not one they will pay Furry Friends for, it will be donated to another charity. For example, these phones are given to homeless shelters for battered women so they may dial 911. Either way you are doing a good deed!! ... View related article.

RE: Keeping Eyeliner on Your Bottom Eye Lid
I have oily skin & pencil liners just wouldn't stay on. I started using gel eyeliner that you apply with an eyeliner brush. The best ones I have found so far are by MAC & Bobbi Brown. ... View related article.

RE: Entertainment Ideas for a Single Female
If you don't want to adopt a pet for a lifetime, why not consider fostering a pet? Animal shelters are always out of space & look for people to house homeless animals in their home until they are adopted. Most shelters provide the food & veterinary care. They also need people to physically volunteer at the shelter to do tasks such as socializing the animals so they will get used to human contact, grooming (brushing/bathing), cleaning the cages/kennels, feeding, walking the dogs, fundraising, etc. To find your nearest animal shelter, go to: http://www.petfinder.org ... RE: Sibling Rivalry With Dogs
If you still have no relief, contact your local humane society, animal shelter or animal control facility at http://www.petfinder.org

Most have an animal behaviorist on staff that will try to find solutions to problems with pets for free so that you don't have to relinquish your pet. ... View related article.

RE: Men's Shirts and Socks are Cheaper
I started buying men's shoes, like sandals & gym shoes. They are cheaper & sturdier than women's. Men's shoes run 2 sizes smaller than women's. For example, if you wear a women's size 10 shoe, you would fit into a men's size 8; if you wore a size 8 women's shoe, you would fit into a men's size 6 and so on. ... View related article.

RE: Selling at Garage Sales
Coming from a long line of Garage Sale Junkies, I've learned the #1 key to a successful garage sale is always put yourself in the buyer's shoes! When pricing items, think to yourself "Would I pay this price for this item?" Most people are attached to certain items & they overprice them. If you really want to get rid of stuff, the right price is essential. Need plastic shopping bags to bag the items for your buyers? I get mine from the recycling bin at my local grocery store. When setting up, again, put yourself in the buyer's shoes. No one wants to dig through boxes or bins looking for items, set items out in a nice, orderly fashion. If you must use boxes & bins, make sure you take time to re-fold items after shoppers leave. And whenever I go to a garage sale that doesn't have prices on the items, I immediately leave. I don't have time to waste asking the price of each item. I make sure I have enough change, singles & fives & carry a calculator on me. When selling jewelry or other loose items, place them in a plastic sandwich bag & put the price on a piece of paper & staple the bag securely shut. ... View related article.

RE: Before Purchasing a Cell Phone Plan
Since I have access to a regular phone all day at work, I only needed a cell phone for emergencies. I priced around for those pay-as-you-go plans & so far, the cheapest & best plan I found was by Virgin Mobile. I bought my phone from Target (I'm sure Walmart sells them, too) & activated my phone online where I got an even better phone plan. I estimate I pay a little over $5/month for this phone plan, plus I get to use the minutes I've paid for if I need them. I believe if you sign up online & have your credit card automatically debited every 3 months, you get the best deal. Go to: www.virginmobileusa.com ... View related article.

RE: Kady (German Shepherd/Shiba Inu)
Thanks for all the nice comments, I think she's beautiful, too. I'm happy to hear there are other "pet rescuers" out there. I think she looks like a Husky, too, but the vet sided more towards a Shiba Inu (& I've had strangers come up & tell me that, too). And I might add, this girl is spoiled! :) ... View related article.

RE: Free Gifts Worth More Than Money
In my family, we give each other services as gifts. I have a huge combination room (living/dining/kitchen) that was in dire need of repainting & even tho it was a huge task, I planned to do it myself (& it happened to be around my birthday). My Mom said for my birthday gift she'd help me paint for 8 hours. I can only imagine how much it would have cost me to pay someone to paint so I'm sure that gift was worth hundreds of dollars. I also had some home repairs that I would normally need to hire a handyman to do. Well, my Dad gave me the gift of handyman services & fixed everything that needed to be fixed. Now that I'm a homeowner, I value these "gifts" moreso than a traditional gift because I know paying someone to do what my parents have helped me with would have cost me in the thousands! ... RE: Selling Your Home - Tips
Painting a room can totally transform a room & add value to the home. Also, de-personalize & de-clutter. Remember, you're trying to make your house appealing to buyers because they need to be able to visualize their belongings in the house, not yours. ... View related article.
