Profile For MartyD - Marty

I love to sew and  do crafts.    As a Gramma I get to do a lot of that sort of thing. I am  an avid reader with historical fiction and mysteries among my favorites.   I also play a mean game of scrabble.

I have just gone back to sub for the school district where I worked for several years.

A silverware basket from an old dishwasher works great for this. ... View related article.

RE: Uses for Old Coffee Cups
I have a mug with an odd shaped handle with my tooth brush and toothpaste in it. I also have 2 that were gifts from my son and daughter in law that I don't want in "circulation". They are sitting on the counter with small items in them, measuring spoons etc. ... View related article.

RE: Use Shower Curtains for Drapery
A wonderful idea! IKEA has some lovely shower curtains and they are very reasonably priced. Actually they are borderline cheap. ... View related article.

RE: Removing a Plate Stuck in Frying Pan
Both of these are good ideas. I was going to suggest turning the pan upside down in the sink with a folded towel underneath. Run the hot water over it. This should cause sufficient expansion to cause the plate to drop out onto the towel. ... View related article.

RE: Corning Ware Electric Percolator Basket Too Tall
I can't help you with your immediate problem other than to suggest finding an elderly person who remembers when those things were popular. He or she will know what to do. If that doesn't work. My DH and I found a lovely Farberware Electric Perk, new, on Amazon.com. It didn't cost a lot and we are delighted with it. We had forgotten the smell of perked coffee in the house. Auto drips don't give you that. If you decide on an electric percolator start it with ice water. It runs on a thermostat and the colder water will allow it to perc longer and give you a richer cuppa. ... View related article.

RE: Dog Pees in Crate
If you stay up till midnight or later let him out the last thing before you go to bed. This might help to reset his body clock. Another thing you might want to consider is getting up at 4:30 to let him out. Or if you make a potty run in the middle of the night have him go too. ... View related article.

RE: Where can I buy Shower Power?
I went to Home Depot yesterday and found Industrial Strength 409. It is in a white bottle with bright blue lettering. It works great on soap scum if you can't find your other product. It's not vile smelling like a lot of powerful cleaning agents. ... View related article.

RE: Keep Leftovers For Soup in Your Freezer
My sister had a rather tall tupperware container wherein she poured the liquid from boiling potatoes to mash. This was frozen along with leftovers. Lots of nutrition there. That woman could make some soup! mmm mmm I have started adding half cup of instant mashed potatoes to the soup after it is almost done. ... View related article.

RE: Uses For Popcorn Tins
I buy the tins at garage sales and thrift stores to use for storage. Some items I've stashed in these things include dog treats, dry dog food, needle point projects and supplies to name a few. ... View related article.
