Profile For ApacheAngel - SAHM makes Goodies Galore
Hello everyone, I am a Stay At Home Mom on a limited income and I love to make all kinds of crafts! I sew, quilt, cross stitch, and most other kinds of crafts since the age of 13 and am proud to say my daughter (13) is a crafter as well! I believe handmade arts & crafters are a dying breed unfortunately and I also believe that a handmade gift means more than any money can buy! Happy Crafting to ALL!

RE: Craft Project: Easter Deviled Eggs Tray
Thanks for the great idea! I found the glass items at a thrift store for 35c each and I had some colored glass marbles I put in the sundae glass to give it a little flair. Used it at a small get together and got rave reviews! Thanks again! ... View related article.

RE: Easter Egg Wreath
Thanks for posting this. I thought this was such a cute idea, I wanted to make one for my family as well. We have tons of plastic eggs and ribbon, so all I needed was the wreath, which I got at our local craft store on sale for 50% off (around $2 after sale). Sharing how mine turned out... thanks again for the great idea! ... View related article.

RE: Craft: Casserole Dish Covers
I went to Garden Ridge and found a bunch of cute placemats on Clearance after the holidays and had this idea in mind... I bought a few dozen of them and I have to say they are so easy to make. I plan on buying some of those foil pans and inserting them for "demonstration" when I give them as gifts. Paid about 20 cents per placemat and $1 for a bag of wooden spoons at the dollar store. Then I had ribbons, etc... Thanks so much again for a cute and inexpensive idea! Here's a picture of one of the ones I have already made... ... View related article.

RE: Purchase Gift Cards Throughout The Year
Being of an extremely limited income, I do this as well throughout the year but make sure there is no exp. dates...

I also do online shopping and emails from mypoints and then redeem my years accumulated points for Giftcards for Christmas... I was able to earn 6 KB Toys gift cards and 4 Walmart cards this year... ... View related article.

RE: Christmas Crafts Using Old Magazines
You can also use some spray adhesive glue and apply pictures to clear vinyl and make purses, makeup bags, etc by sewing the vinyl together, attaching straps, etc... here's a pic of a Rolling Stones/Johnny cash purse someone was selling on ebay! (I have made similar and they are very popular!) ... View related article.

RE: Potholders From Fabric Scraps
Great job on your potholders!

I also have everyone requesting potholders from me all year long... even my baby brother! LOL... If you make a matching oven mitt, and maybe even an apron or grocery bag holder it makes a great "kitchen set" gift... but if you are trying to reduce scraps, one can never have too many lovely potholders!

A tip to those who are not skilled with basting/bias taping the edges... you can also sew the wrong sides together (layer your "filler", then your top piece, and then the back piece facing the wrong side out... and make sure to add a "loop" in the corner as well) sew along all 4 edges leaving a 1 inch opening. Flip the potholder rightside out and then stitch your opening shut. This is the method I first used to teach my daughter... we use 10 inch squares of fabric to make ours and either a strip of bias tape sewn shut or a strip of the matching material (folded similar to bias tape and stitched shut)...

Here's a set I made just tonight for my brother for Christmas... he is getting 4 different sets with 1 matching oven mitt for each! ... View related article.
