| RE: Inexpensive Christmas Gifts for Assisted Living Residents |
|
Dollar Tree sells some pretty nice socks for only one dollar each pair. Otherwise, you might be able to buy socks at another store in a package and break the package up to divide the socks so as to give one pair to each resident. I don't like the idea of anything in a glass container because glass breaks. You are a good person. ... View related article. |

| RE: Buying Quality Inexpensive Shoes |
If you are in India, you most likely will need to shop via the internet. Here in the USA, I shop at a factory outlet store for good buys on shoes. I prefer the Easy Spirit brand of shoe because they are well-made and comfortable. Factory outlet stores have sales, too.
I used to buy shoes from Payless shoe store, but once I found I can buy well made shoes for only a little less, I quit buying them there. The shoes I bought at Payless made my whole body hurt because I did not have a good foundation to stand on. Better shoes cushion my step and support my foot. ... View related article. |

| RE: Recycling Packing Paper |
|
I was thinking it would make good wrapping paper. What I've received is nice enough for that. With most of us receiving so many packages in the mail now, we need to be aware of how to recycle those wrapping products. I reuse mailing envelopes and Kraft envelopes. ... View related article. |

| RE: Oil Stains on Clothing |
|
Try applying dish liquid to the spot. rub it into the fabric and let it set for awhile. Throw the item into the washing machine with other clothing. Do not dry in the dryer. If you repeat this process several times you may see improvement. But imho, the dryer has "set" your stain and the items must be replaced. I wouldnt give up without trying several methods, however. ... View related article. |

| RE: Avoiding Charity Fraud |
Even when you donate to a legitimate charity, you have no way of knowing how much of your donation actually goes to the purpose for which it was intended. Sometimes money is eaten away by salary and distribution costs. Also, if you donate to a charity in another country, sometimes the government in that country seizes the food or other items so it doesnt get to the needy citizens.
For those reasons, I only donate money to a church of a recognized, legitimate denomination. More of the money will go to needy people when intentions are good. Church World Service is another organization that seems to provide food and medical help to those in need. Be very, very careful.

| RE: Suggestions for White Hair Other Than Dyeing |
I must add something to my previous post.
I live in an area of the country where there are a lot of mature women. We are 2nd only to retirement counties of Florida in this regard. Women here tend to color their grey hair in a shade I refer to as "old lady blonde." Please, please, please do not dye your hair old-lady blonde. Its not flattering and its not appropriate for you or any other mature woman. ... View related article. |

| RE: Suggestions for White Hair Other Than Dyeing |
I would not dye your beautiful hair. I used to pay for expensive frosting, but quit when I developed a problem with my scalp. It was the best thing I have ever done!
Please remember that it is in the best interest of your hairdresser if you dye your hair as that is how she makes her money. Treat yourself to a chic haircut instead. A wonderful cut allows the hair to lay well.
Also, I'd like you to think about your "white" hair as silver instead. There are shampoos available to remove any yellow from the white in grey hair. I believe this yellow is actually a deposit from water in your home or from hair products you are using.
Keep your hair healthy and shiny. Make that a priority. Eat well. Improve your diet as we all should continually try to do. Drink milk and eat vegetables and fruits. Use whole grains. Massage your scalp with the balls or tips of your fingers rather than your fingernails. Massage increases the blood flow to the roots of your hair.
Perhaps most important of all is wearing a flattering color of clothing near your face. With white or silver hair, those shades are usually softer. Rather than bright red, you may want to use raspberry or strawberry... which are more pinky and less harsh. dont forget its not only your hair that is changing but also your skin tone. Stay away from black near your face as that is too harsh a color for you right now. Try charcoal grey instead. These little adjustments make all the difference in the world!
Don't forget the saying, "You can't fool Mother Nature." Mother Nature always knows best even with hair coloring imho. I think you will find your coloring "suits you." Think positively about it and learn you love yourself as you are. I care. Best wishes always. ... View related article. |

| RE: Theme for Song Celebrating Church's Anniversary |
I'd use "We Are the Church" by Avery and Marsh. Here are the words as I remember them. Chorus: I am the Church You are the Church We are the Church together! All of God's people. All around the world. Yes, we're the Church together.
1st Verse The Church is not a building. The Church is not a steeple. The Church is not a resting place. The Church is a people.
Chorus Sorry I cant remember the 2nd and 3rd versus, but this song is loved by both children and adults. I've seen it used with motions. On the chorus, you make the church with your fingers... the old one where you "Open your hands and See all the people!" Do you remember that one from childhood? You use your index fingers to make the steeple and then open your hands to see all the people. Well that works with this song.
If you check on the internet under "Avery and Marsh" you will find the music for this great song along with others they have written. They are Presbyterians. One is the pastor and the other is the minister of music.
Best of luck, Carol ... View related article. |

| RE: Thrifty Decorations for a Church Anniversary |
If its decorations you want, I'd look to nature and see what God has provided for the UAE. Here in the USA I'd suggest sea shells and other Christian symbols. Do a websearch under the word "Chrismons." Chrismons are really Christmas ornaments used to decorate a living evergreen tree, but I think you'll find suggestions for how to make decorations you can use for your purpose as well. Chrismons are white and are all Christian symbols.
Kudos to the other person who posted feedback. We all love you! ... View related article. |
