Profile For dpool from memphis - Just plain thrifty and enjoying it!
Being a single mom of four with 8 grandkid I have always be thifty, my best friend was tightwad gazzette before the computer,  now it my companion. My kids never suffered from my thirfty scheming they thought I was a liitle strange when I'd slam on my brakes for some find on the curb, but they understood. I have found that so much can be saved and still have a good life that I've tried to pass it on to the kids. As a parent we always want them to have better than we did, we give and teach things that we have learned  through trial and error.  I wish that I had been taught while I was young how to save money, invest and still have pleasures in life, that I have been able to teach my kids and grandkids so it would have been natural instead of a constant struggle, Though  learning has been an adventure the reward of the fellow traveler has been amazing. Its through friends like the ones with this site who have brought me this far and will take me to the end. Thank You.

RE: Buying Bright Colored Contacts
NO MATTER WHAT! Go to your eye doctor for your contact fitting and get them sized. If you buy straight from someone and they do not fit you, they will scratch your eyes. ... View related article.

RE: Removing Scratches & Adding Shine To Dark Coffee Table
They have wood coloring that comes in crayon form at hardware stores to put on the scratches. Just match to the color of your wood. Then you can put the shin back in several ways. To just put a shine on you can get linseed oil or a paste wax and rub into the wood. To put a protection on the table you can polyurithan(not sure I spelled right) or for a heavy protection you can put epoxy coating on the table, these take a little longer to set and dry but if you have the time it may be worth it in the long run to keep the table longer. :) ... RE: Clothes For Swiffer Mops
I made my own from micro fiber towels that I got at the dollar tree. Then you can wash and reuse. If you sew or a family member does you can hem the cloths to keep from fraying or use fray check. When your velcro starts to get old, replace it. ... View related article.

RE: Replacing Leather Covered Cabinets
If the doors are the only thing covered in leather you can purchase new doors. Sand the frames and stain or varnish to the color of your choice.
If the doors are a panel covered in leather you can remove the panel from the back after you remove the doors from the frames. You can then replace the panel with clear or frosted glass the same size as the panel.
If the leather is in on the panel you might be able to save the panel after removing the the leather if possible then sand the frames on cabinet, door frames and the panel and stain to your choice.
Also if you want to go old school country you can replace the panel with a sheet of copper that you poke with designs or patterns found on the net to make the cabinets look like an old biscut safe.( you have to be my age to rember granny's safe,)
I have never seen leather kitchen cabinets so these are just some ideas, but I would think that leather in the kitchen would be the worse kind of headache to care for. Good Luck! :) ... View related article.

RE: Decorating Dance With Vintage Theme
Your ideas sound wonderful. I would go with the black and white theme though you'd be amazed what you can do with it.
Black and white streamers for ceiling decor.
Stars, covered in black and white glitter, hanging from the streamers
Silouetes Of Dancers from all the eras, watlzing, jitterbuger, zoot suited, look on the net for pictures of different era dancers and use overhead projector to do outline on black paper to place on the walls
If you school has strobe lights they can be covered to strobe black and white stars or circles while you dance around.
If your band is willing have them each dress for a different era (Female singer flapper or Ginger Rogers sleek and sexy, Males Zoot suit or tux or pin striped)
You could have the students draw for thier era or if different grades are going each grade is different era.
The net can give you ideas for black and white foods if needed, same with cloths and music choices.
Have fun homecomings are a wonderful memory. :) ... View related article.

RE: Will Paper Ruin a Blender?
I have been making paper for a while now. I judge by the sound of my blender and the consistancy of the pulp, to figure out when to add to the mix. If you are new to this I would save such an expensive blender for margaritas and go to the thrift store for a 5.00 blender, they say that once you use your blender for paper use it only for paper. So get a cheapy and have fun with your new hobby. :) ... View related article.

RE: Advice For Aggressive Older Dog
Have you had the older dog checked at the vet. Like humans with age dogs attitude and dementia change. The older could feel threatened, protective or feel as if her time is ending and is prcieving the younger as a cause. Call you vet and ask before getting rid of her. He may have other ideas, it could be a illness like artitis or heat or any number of things not even related to your other dog, just the older using the younger as a scape goat. My fear would be that the kids mght get caught in the cross fire and get hurt when it could be someting minor. Good Luck! :) ... View related article.
