| RE: Kennel Cough Home Remedies |
Agie, it is a little late for this now but if you can still find some green black walnut hulls put them in your dogs water otherwise you can buy green black walnut tincture online, just be sure it is green. Give your dog 10 drops twice a day, if he is pretty bad I would suggest taking him to the vet, otherwise google Wolf Creek Ranch they have a lot of great herbal animal remedies. Have your dog vaccinated specifically for kennel cough vaccine for it is very inexpensive. Most Farm stores sell a lot of things for dogs like tapeworm medicine, kennel cough treatments etc, that are cheaper than the vet but usually not in the concentration that you would get from the vet. Hope this helps. ... View related article. |

| RE: Getting Rid of Rats |
If you can get a large amount of rosemary from the bulk food section of a store take and burn it in a frying pan. Take the burnt rosemary and put in your crawl spaces etc. Rodents hate the odor and will leave people did this during the middle ages because of the plague that was spread by the fleas on the rats. Coke and alka seltser also work as safe for pets and children poisons.. You can also make a very effective trap out of a five gallon bucket, two small boards, and some heavy duty plastic wrap. Tightly cover the top of the bucket with plastic wrap, cut a slit in the middle. Put some peanut butter or cat food in the bucket, then put the bucket where you see the most rats, and put the two boards on either side of like a ramp.
Being careful that they go only to the edge of the bucket so the rats have to walk on the plastic wrap they will fall into the bucket and be trapped. From here you can either drown them in the bucket or the most humane method would be to put the bucket inside a large black garbage sack, tie it around your cars tail pipe and run for ten minutes or so. This will put them to "sleep" from carbon monoxide poisoning and they will have a painless death. I have lived for many years in a big Victorian ranch house and we get lots of mice and field rats and this is what I do. Also set rat traps (bigger than mouse traps) in places your dog can't get to them close to walls, under furniture, the sink etc. Check at least twice a day and reset. You should get rid of most of your problem. ... View related article. |

| RE: Diet Ideas for Someone Who is Hypoglycemic With High Blood Pressure |
|
You need to eat five to six small meals throughout the day, this keeps your blood sugar more balanced and helps you be less hungry, if you have thyroid problems a herbal thryoid supplement should not affect your blood pressure and can help reenergise your thyroid. The How To Herb Book has a good recipe. As to licorice being bad for your blood pressure yes and no. Genuine from the plant liquorice root will lower your blood pressure so you have to be careful about using it. The previous poster gave excellant advice, just try to make your meals about 6 small ones rather than 3 large ones, eat protein, and avoid all refined carbohydrated. I have dealt with hypoglycemia most of my life, as well as hypothryoidism. The key is to eat a very balanced diet that is nutrient rich. ... View related article. |

| RE: Raw Diet Versus Dry Dog Food |
I second what COflower said about discussing her diet with your veterinarian before embarking on a raw food or homemade dog food diet. Until you take her to the vet here is what I would do. Your dog is not going to happily switch from canned to dry dog food but she will eat it if she realizes that she doesn't have a choice. Try transitioning her by mixing some high quality dry dog food like Science diet into her canned food, do not offer her any other food or treats just fresh filtered water. Take her walks but only allow her the small amount of canned food with a little dry food mixed in.
Than slowly reduce the canned food in proportion to dry food until she is eating just dry food. The key here is consistency, she has to realize that the only food she is getting is this, dogs are opportunists and will eventually eat they just have to understand that nothing else is on the menu. Once she is eating the dry dog food make small meatballs out of fresh beef or turkey and put about half a teaspoon full of parsley in each one, this will help her breath until she can get a full workup. Consider also consulting an animal herbalist or Naturopathic Vet if the problem does not subside. ... View related article. |

| RE: Home Remedy for Diabetic Foot Pain |
|
Your husband most likely has neurepothy ie nerve pain but consult his doctor to make certain. Soaking the feet in a catnip foot bath can be very helpful for this as catnip is good for nerve pain. Make sure that soaking in a warm foot bath is ok with his doctor first. Also taking catnip internally can help. With his doctors ok bring 1gallon of distilled water to boil add 1 cup of dried catnip cover and steep 10 minutes, than uncover and cool to just above lukewarm soak feet for at least half an hour. Do this several times a day, also take a several capsules of dried catnip. He should also be drinking plenty of water and try to exercise which is hard with painful feet but do try, also consider consulting a naturopath or herbalist. Hope this helps. ... | RE: Miniature Pies Baked in Canning Jars |
|
You can bake cakes to can in the oven in jars my grandma used to do it all the time. You bake the cake at 350 than take it out put a lid on it and it seals, or you can put the lid on before putting it in the oven and it will seal. Canning jars have to withstand the pressure cooker too which is different than just plain boiling water. This is probably perfectly safe as long as your jar is free from defects which is why you are supposed to check for defects every time before using a jar. Hope this helps. I wouldn't bake it higher than 350 though. ... View related article. |
