RE: Susan: ThriftyFun Says Goodbye
I am SO sorry to hear about Susan. I wish all the best to her family right now.

I was amazed when I found this website at the ambition and goal the site had, and it is accordingly one of the only websites I have remained signed up from the early days of the Net to today through six different emails. It is really a valuable service! Susan's family should be proud that she did so much for humanity. ... View related article.

RE: Grinch Themed Office Decorations
I would look to Whoville for inspiration. Bright colors, lots of texture. Think neon blue, neon green, bright pinks, shiny golds - I would use a lot of crepe paper garlands, lots of lights. You could spray paint twigs in bright colors to adjoin any garland going around the office. You could also use plastic bouncy balls to make oversize "ornaments" that were non-breakable. ... RE: Knifty Knitter Blanket Keeps Rolling Up
If you are making panels, you can alternate stockinette and garter stitch panels.

The roll greatly depends on the stitch used and how tightly you are looming. I would recommend adding a garter stitch border (possibly by adduing an outside panel) or alternating stitches. ... View related article.

RE: Diabetic Lemon Cordial Recipe
Now that I think I understand what lemon cordial is, here's what I would do.

http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/products/a/liqsplenda.htm

This has information on a variety of liquid Sucralose products that you could use in place of the basic simple syrup (sugar water) that goes into most cordials, and then all you would need to do is add the lemon juice and poss. the tiny amount of alcohol that goes into some of the recipes.

Good luck! I might have to try making some of mine own after reading all these yummy sounding recipes! ... View related article.

RE: Recipes Using Soy Milk
I can't drink it straight (use chocolate soymilk to drink), but I cook regularly with the straight soymilk. I use it same as cows milk. The chocolate soymilk is also very good in place of coffee creamer, in my opinion

Where do you find it so cheap? Aldi's got a decent price but it still runs me about the same as regular milk. ... View related article.

RE: Sister Diagnosed With Cervical Cancer
April,

I am a survivor of endometrial cancer. There was an excellent resource in an online Yahoo group called GynGals, now called Women Conquering Cancer (http://www.geocities.com/womenconqueringcancer/).

Please check it out.

The other thing I wanted to say was keep visiting your friend, and trying to do normal stuff like craft or cook or shop or whatnot. And listen. These things were very helpful in my support system and I encourage everyone I know to do the same - the worst thing I could think of then were the times when I absolutely had to be myself. ... RE: Remedies For Twitching Legs
The fix may depend on what type of problem is causing the twitching.

For me, magnesium tablets and icing daily helps a bit to relax the muscle...but I have a compressed nerve under my calf. This twitching is caused when I feel like my leg is like a winch being pulled tighter, and tighter, and tighter until it explodes!

Other suggestions by my doctor was tonic water (also known as quinine water) nightly, daily doses of major electrolytes (in my case, drinking a 12 oz portion of the lower calorie Gatorade), etc.

In my younger days, I would have muscle cramping that would be severe enough to lead to twitching. Potassium usually helped.

But I would strongly suggest visiting a doctor when possible. There are many different causes of leg twitching and you might need physical therapy to correct them as well. ... View related article.

RE: Puppy Dog Food for a Nice Coat
I assume this would work on Huskies as well as dalmatians... my parents put a raw egg into their two dalmatians' food each Sunday and their hair is super soft.

The other way you can ensure its feel is up to par is to brush often. The brushing will move the oils up and down the coat and it will look and feel better. ... View related article.

RE: Ideas For Small Quilting Projects
Its not quilting, but we learned this at the craft collective meeting I went to this month: take some metal binder clips (also known as bulldog clips in some areas), cut fabric to cover, coat the black part of the clip with decoupage liquid (Modge Podge in this case), place fabric over it, put more decoupage liquid on top, and when it dries, you have adorable decorative clips!

Its something good for those little squares and such pieces of fabric that I never want to get rid of, but really don't have a use for. The girl who taught it to us was an absolute genius - something creative and useful at the same time! ... View related article.

RE: Soy Milk Vs. 1% Milk
I don't know about gaining weight, but I like to consume both for the benefits of regular milk (calcium and Vitamin D) and for the benefits of soy milk (soy isoflavones). Drink what you enjoy - and the only thing I will add is that if you drink solely soy milk, make sure to get one that has vitamin D and calcium added to it to make sure your bones stay strong.

Chocolate soy milk is particularly good as a coffee cream replacement :-) ... View related article.
