| RE: Coffee is Making Me Sick |
|
I am in the same boat and I can tell you that it is the acid in the coffee that upsets our stomachs. As the economy has sunk lower, coffee companies have started to use cheaper and cheaper coffee beans in their brew. The result is a bitter and more acid cup of coffee. Coffee roasted darker (like French Roast) is milder and less acidic. Also, some coffee like Colombian is less acidic. Just because you have been drinking the same brand of coffee for years doesn't mean that they haven't changed their recipe mix of beans that goes into that brand. Experiment a little and you may find a good, low acid coffee that your like. My favorite is Sumatran and it is a kind of coffee, not a blend. You can find it from amazon.com online or at your local grocery where I live. I have seen it by the pound at Starbucks. Hope this helps. ... View related article. |

Looks like your dog may have a lot of Briard in it. Hard to tell size because he/she is lying down. Briards come in that color, called "biscuit". ... View related article. |

| RE: Dog Always Has Body Odor |
|
Change your dog's diet. Try using the crock pot method of feeding for human-type food (use Google to find instructions and recipes). Either your dog is allergic to some ingredient(s) used or cannot digest something well. A pro biotic like Prozyme that helps him digest his food better may help if you can't change food or brands of food. ... View related article. |

| RE: Easy Tick Removal |
I don't have a problem with your methods of tick removal. Whatever works is fine. It is not the outside of the tick that is nasty, it is the inside that is a toxic waste dump. Even if you kill the tick, which most of these methods will eventually do, the toxic 'soup' is still just that "toxic". Some of the stuff inside a tick is so bad, not even immersion in alcohol will kill what is brewing there. Ticks flushed down the toilet can live through the sewage treatment system, crawl off and bite and infect again. If you have a septic tank, you are just recycling a tick back into your own backyard.
I grab the tick in an old pair of tweezers and hold it over an open flame; candle, gas range, etc. A match alone will not burn long enough. Hold until the legs burn off and if full, the tick itself boils and shrivels. Then discard the remains, sterilize the tweezers in the flame and put aside until needed again. That tick will never bite you or your animals again. Also, it will not survive to make more ticks in your house or yard; they have HUNDREDS of eggs each. Now, that is an ick (!) for sure. Be safe. ... View related article. |

| RE: Softening Stiff Denim |

Turn them inside out and iron them on a high setting with steam. You may have to do this for the first couple of times you wash them, but it will help break down and soften the fibers. Works on denim shirts with scratchy collars and cuffs too. ... View related article. |

| RE: Keeping Cats Out of Yard |
|
There are hose end lawn sprinklers that come with motion detectors on them and when movement is detected, they turn on and drench the offending invader. This would work for cats, possums and other night creatures. Just GOOGLE it and I am sure you can find a source. It was first invented for deer, but will work for all 'critters'. If the spray doesn't hit them, the sudden noise will cause them to find other quieter places to prowl. ... View related article. |

| RE: Something is Eating the Leaves on Canna Lilies |
|
Are there round holes in the canna leaves and are the new leaves "sewn together" with what looks like a zig-zag stitch? If so, you have a moth laying eggs in the center cone of the new leaves and sewing them together with silk to provide a save haven for the green caterpillar that hatches and eats and eats and eats. You can cut off the stitched together leaves and make sure you burn them or the little larvae will continue to eat, molt and fly away to eat your and everyone else's cannas. I have tried lots of ways to kill them, but they keep coming back year after year. I think you you need to drench the soil with an insecticide and make sure you cut down ALL the above ground growth in the fall or they will winter over and be waiting to decimate your newly sprouted leaves in the spring. Lots of luck. I finally dug my cannas up and threw them away. It is so sad to see them trying to grow and bloom only to be eaten alive by this pest. ... View related article. |
