RE: Make a "What To Do" List for Idle Moments
I love idle time, it makes me feel a little more productive and everyone asks how I get so much done.

Anyhow, I first thought of the coupons, as I am sending some to a military base. Then I realized when I sit and watch TV is when I notice all the cobwebs in the corners, so during commercials you can sweep out the corners or take the vacuum to the cus ions....another money making endeavor sometimes as well. ... RE: Garden: Celosia
That is the biggest I have EVER seen Celosia.

I haven't had good luck with it though. The first year we had it, it got about a foot and a half tall, then the tops died off. So we figured too close to the heat off the road.

I moved them to the side yard where they get mostly sun, except early morning, and they didn't seem to like it there even more. They basically died after the water in the root dried up.

I planted from a pack, but made sure to break up the roots, so they weren't "pot bound".
Any tips?
Thanks

RE: Uses for Velcro
I have a pen velcroed to the side of the monitor of our computer. I usually have scrap paper at the ready, but the pen right there is great to have, I dont' have to get up to put it back, but if I am on the computer and thing of something, I just jot my idea down and hang it on the file cabinet until I finish what I am doing. ... RE: Saving Money on Appliances
A few years ago, our stoves last burner finally went. We looked through the classified ads and found a few of the "from $99" ads and called. We got a price of $180 WITH DELIVERY! Mind you we are in the middle of the country, so with only a $30 delivery fee, we jumped on it. The place is great, and while it was a used model, the gentleman that dropped off the stove went over everything with me before they left and told me if I had any problems, even in a year, to give a call and they would see what they could do. While it wasn't the big store "warranty" that others get, the hand shake meant more since word of mouth travels quick around here and they KNOW that. ... View related article.

RE: What Are These Wildflowers?
Yup, they are cosmos, but they also come in white with the leaves like the picture you ghave. There is another variety that is of a yellow and orange mix.

After the flower head die back, you can either pinch them back or let them seed. Their seeds are slender and dark.

Beautiful flowers, they are one of my husband's favorites, he has his own little plot with just cosmos in it next to our rose. ... View related article.

RE: Start Shopping For Back To School
It's also a great idea if you have a couple extra dollars to get supplies for the classrooms for your kids, or I have seen some backpack programs that send bundles of supplies to schools that really need it.

The only thing to worry about it getting too much, as the erasers from some pencils I bought (but have yet to use since I bought so many to begin with,) are now hard as a rock and unusable. ... View related article.

RE: Advice for Keeping My Life Private Away from Work
Well, I would do the above mentioned, but I am one of those people that would pry and ask in another way until you flat out told me that we weren't getting paid to talk about our lives, we are getting paid to work.

A bit harsh, but with some people (myself included) upfront and flatout honesty is the best policy....they can't argue company policy with that one. ... View related article.

RE: Saving Money On BBQ For 50 People
I feel for you. My son is a July baby, and while we don't do friends for parties, we have a list of about 70 people if everyone in the family shows up.

Why don't you ask everyone to bring a covered dish? We even did that for our wedding, and most everyone was happy to oblige. We just told them that we weren't having the typical wedding to begin with and it would be a covered dish thing......your not having the typical BBQ, so you can do the covered dish thing too.

Think about who makes what or who is "known" for what in the family. We have the automatic who's bringing what of people that bring the potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw, cheesecake, etc. Those that aren't sure can bring a bag of chips, pretzels, a veggie tray, fruit tray, cheese tray. Nothing outlandishly expensive, but it saves when you add it all up. You can even see if there is anyone with extra flatware or paper products as well. We usually at least supplied the meat for the bbq though....not appearing too cheap....

Make sure to do this right away. If you wait til the last minute, there might be some who would have loved to bring something, but didn't have the time or money to go fetch ingredients from the store.

Good Luck

RE: Recycling Thermal Backed Curtains
I sorted through our curtains, sheets, towels, and blankets and donated them to the local animal shelter. They weren't all pretty and perfect, BUT they are needed for bedding and warmth for the animals and were very much appreciated.

Hope this helps a bit. ... View related article.

RE: Getting Rid Of Solvent Smell In Dryer
Was there any stain from an oil base? When the motor went in our dryer, there was a HUGE gear oil stain on one of my favorite sweatshirts (about 5 years ago it happened).....and to this day I still wear it for my around the house stuff, but I make sure to wash it separately from other delicates so the smell doesn't permiate into everything else. ...
