RE: Dryer Sheets as Swiffer Replacements
I found this to be even easier: Use microfiber cloths. I finally remembered to buy these after Thrifty members wrote about these. They can be used again and again, used for dusting, sweeping, or washing, and they fit my Swiffer perfectly. ... View related article.

RE: Rescan TV Setup To Get Digital Channels
Another bah humbug. Before digital I could record any show I wanted while watching another channel. I had to get a new updated recorder. ok I expected that. After putting in all the new digital channels I found out I had to be watching the same channel as the show I wanted to record.

I went back to the store and asked for a different recorder and explained the situation. I was told they don't make those anymore and would have to forget it. I can't believe it but don't know where to get any better information. Bah humbug. ... View related article.

RE: Hibernating Turtles Indoors
For gran1cook: I do have 5 older turtles which hibernate very well outdoors every year. I have had some of these for 15 years. Our soil is pretty hard clay, so I dig down 4 inches and cover with chopped leaves and straw. They keep cool in the 100 degree heat and warm all during the frozen winter. Just be sure to keep adding to the pile as it breaks down. I usually clean it out every few months anyway as pets get pretty dirty. ... View related article.

RE: Paper Or Plastic Bags?
I have 5 large cloth bags that I use as much as possible. However I do forget sometimes and then I request paper bags. I use them for putting in my shredded paper and bring them out to the composter. After I dump them in, I also shred the bags and compost them too, or use them for mulch. ... View related article.

RE: Garden: Black Swallowtail Caterpillar
Congratulations on finding this little guy! This is the 2nd year I have intentionally planted for butterflies and am so hoping to find some caterpillars of my own. I also set out food and drinks for the birds however, so I am not sure who will win out-it will be interesting if both settle into my backyard for the long haul. Good luck with yours. ... RE: Izzy (Box Turtle)
Gotta love those box turtles! I got my first one in1993. Over the years we have had many more but kept "only" 7. and we love each and every one of them. By the way, there are no slugs and snails in our back yard-they take care of almost all of them. Hope you have many good years with Izzy. ... View related article.

RE: Printers That Are Inexpensive to Use
I have a printer that calls for lexmark 1 ink cartridges which work great for about a month and then fade very quickly and cost quite a bit to replace. I found a company at carrotink.com, paid 1/2 the price and the ink from one cartridge is still working after installing it 3 months ago. It is color and I've been recommending this to everyone know. ... View related article.
