| RE: Alternative to Unity Candles |
What about Chinese lanterns. You could give one to each of your guests and then send them off when it gets dark. A nice alternative to fireworks and a lot cheaper!
I think you can pick them up on ebay. ... View related article. |

| RE: Using Lavender in a Wedding Bouquet |
Lavender in a bouquet is lovely and it smells divine! My sister-in-law had little tulle bags of lavender on the pews in the church. It made a wonderful smell as you entered!
If you're using it in your bouquet, then it will preserve well afterwards as well. It will go well with irises or other small headed seasonal flowers.
Great idea. ... View related article. |

| RE: Having a Large Wedding on a Budget |
Have you thought about hiring the things you need? Or you could buy them off eBay and then sell them on after the wedding - with both options you'll reduce your costs significantly!
We hired vases for £1 and then used a lovely large peony head with some bear grass. It looked great - although it did take 2 days for the heads to open, so think about your timing. Luckily for me my MIL was lovely and had thought of this in advance! ... View related article. |

| RE: Decorating A Barn For A Wedding Reception |
Sounds like an delightful venue! A barn can be so romantic! I love to see tulle at weddings - it can hide a multitude of sins as it can be used as drapes, wall coverings, chair covers, garlands, etc. It's hugely versatile and it's really cheap!
Tea lights are always a good way to add pretty lighting, just keep it away from the tulle! You could line the path to the barn with tea lights and dot them around inside the barn too. Alternatively, lanterns look great and I think there are quite a few ideas on how to make lanterns on this site.
Balloons are a good cheap way to decorate too. You can easily create archways or simply have a few balloons on each table and in the corners of the room. ... View related article. |

| RE: Save On Catering With A "Dessert" Wedding |
It's a lovely idea and I totally agree, you need to have the full sit down wedding breakfast. Some other ideas for cheaper wedding food are: - Cheese and wine - Canapes only - Afternoon tea - Salad buffet (with lots of bread and potatoes) - Hog roast - BBQ - Serve up your favourite traditional dish, like sausage and mash, pie or meatloaf.
They'll all cut your costs dramatically. Enjoy.

A really meaningful gift for your wedding party would be a personal scrapbook or photo album of your friendship. Nothing is nicer, more personal and worthy of a keepsake. | RE: Wedding Name Badges |
I think that's a great idea as it's a lovely ice breaker to get your guests talking. I've been at some weddings where half the table knew each other and just kept to themselves and weren't interested in getting to know the others.
The last wedding I went to though, the bride had created place cards that had the guest's name and then a celebrity that looked similar to them. It was fab and got everyone talking (and some people fuming), but generally it was well received and a good talking point well into the evening. ... View related article. |
