RE: Ingredient Substitution List for Cooking and Baking
Wow! I was on a totally different search--an' this came up! I'm workin' with my laptop right now, no printer (boohoo!). Hopefully, I can find you all again when I'm on the big old desktop computer w/printer and can zap this out! Thanks bunches! Now, can I find what I was originally searching for? Who knows! Thanks again. ... View related article.

RE: Avoid Flashed Out Photos With Your Finger
Glad I stumbled across this one. I'm looking forward to trying to remember to try it! 'specially the comment about shooting thru windows! I get some great shots from time to time when looking out my French doors [deer, dogs, cats, birds, etc] but quit trying to take those pics cuzza the reflections always blocking the shots! Wanna try it! Thanx. ... View related article.

RE: Knifty Knitter Hat Is Too Large
I don't exactly visualize the Knifty Knitter, but have an idea what it's like. I do knit, but I'm an ol' traditional needle-knitter. If you don't have any suggestions with your instructions, a couple things you might check: The first thought was the type of yarn you use. This will, of course, make quite a difference in whatever you're making. Another is the tension--do you have some way of controlling how tight your stitches are? The looser the stitches the larger the item. If it's as large as you say, perhaps you could use every other peg--although how every-other of an odd number of pegs would work out I couldn't guess! Without actually seeing your work, I couldn't tell exactly the problem. I'd be curious to know how you make out with any correction results. Maybe I'll try searching for Knifty Knitter online an' see if I could see what one looks like. Good luck! ... View related article.

RE: Recycle Flour Bags For Baked Goods
Another great "recycle" container is waxed bags from cereals and crackers! I started saving them for popcorn, but of course they can be used for anything needing/wanting a sturdy bag-container. Just as they were meant for cereals, they keep items fresh. Fold closed, use clothespins or paper-clips (the big spring kind) to keep "sealed." ... View related article.

RE: My Frugal Life: Simple Stuff
Sounds oh so familiar! But A/C? Well, I guess not all of us have such things! I use fans; open windows & screened doors [summer] late afternoon & all nite, close, or just the shades, a.m. to let in air but keep out sun. Really really hot nites keep a spray bottle by the bed & spray self & sheets--the fan blowing over the wet sheet [only cover!] is really cool...I mean like, really COOL!

An' shopping: Thrift stores, yard sales--not just clothes but many other items at a fraction of new cost. Get great expensive [but for a buck or less!] electronic toys for the gr-grandkids, books, tapes, furniture, cookware, etc etc etc...I find it hard to walk thru a regular store--talk about sticker shock!

Have had some tough financial setbacks lately, an' I'm back making my own mayo & breads. Better tasting, better for ya, an' so simple! Even some scrumcious microwave breads w/minimum ingredients! [interesting what stuff one can find when they dig down in the freezer, huh?!!] And, WandaJo, do you make sun tea? tea bags in water in large jar in the sun!

I guess we could go on an' on an' on...but "tightwad, cheap, frugal"?? I think we're just smart! An' these days it's not a bad way to be!!! ... View related article.

RE: Bobbie (Golden Retriever)
I ditto tedsmom's thank-you for sharing--she is truly beautiful! I'm almost in tears, cuz I had a Golden for 16 years...Toughy was an absolute wonderful "person" and is missed dearly. Oh, he's been gone for 'way too many years now, but that doesn't stop the missing! The love you receive back from these great pets is amazing! Bless you all! ... View related article.

RE: Are There Hydrangeas That Are Naturally Blue?
I made a note to check my books when I get home, when I saw the 'related links' listed to the right of your question--one was how to change to color of your hydrangeas! I knew it had to do with the acidity/alkalinity of the soil [the ph] but couldn't remember which was which. Check out that item y'self an' see. {I remember my mom had hydrangeas when I was little--didn't care what made the colors, just that I thought they all were beautiful!} ... View related article.

RE: Making Baby Shower Table Decorations
Oops--Shower on June 8 & you posted this today, the 17th? In case you meant JULY 8, let's see: are we talking' one table here or more? You could get a tree branch, base it in a weighted box or jar [wrap in white tissue or a diaper w/pins maybe?] an' hang the items from branches with pastel ribbons [or pink/blue of you know the sex], maybe scatter a few on the table? How many item do y'have? 'Favors' could be little somethings tied in a 'bundle' of tissue paper, again w/the pastel ribbons. Cheeze, I wish I could chat more atcha--wish I was there! More info would help me[us] help you. What date is it really? GOOD LUCK! ... View related article.

RE: Reusing Frying Oil
Milpitas, hmmm? I grew up in the 'Bay Area'--Menlo Park, Los Altos, etc. ANYway, I don't see why you couldn't save & reuse Canola oil, 'specially for the same purpose. We usta reuse oils alla time, & for many foods [I don't 'deep'-fry much anymore]. Strain or scoop out any food particles, store in closed container in cool place [even the fridge]. Oh, don't worry if it gets cloudy in the fridge--just bring it back to room temp an' it'll be fine. ... View related article.

RE: Can I Drink Milk On A Liquid Diet?
I don't understand what you mean by "liquid diet"--last I heard, milk IS a liquid! Actually, your diet may work even better if you do include milk every day, like 3-4 glasses! Try it...I'll keep checking to see if you've got an update down the road apiece. Good Luck! ... View related article.
