RE: Moving Tips
Color code your boxes - either use different colored markers or buy some colored stickers and put the color or more than 1 side of the box. In your new home color code the doorways. Then when the boxes are being unloaded the "blue boxes" go in the "blue room" etc. Just number the boxes 1, 2, 3, etc. and keep a master list of the contents (it's a good idea to make a copy), so "Blue 1" is baby's toys,"Blue 2" is baby's bedding etc. Don't use red as a color for a room. Any box with red (along with the room color) has breakables in it and make this very clear to whoever is doing the moving. If using garbage bags for clothing, bedding etc. The stickers can be applied in several places. Hope this helps and good luck with the move. ... View related article.

RE: Craft: Refrigerator Caddy
I think this is a brilliant idea! My husband always puts these items in jugs and jars on the (limited) counter in our kitchen. His excuse is that he cannot remember which drawer/cabinet they go in and therefore cannot find them when he needs them. Well, guess what? He knows where the fridge is! ... View related article.

RE: Downloading Free Historical Maps
Try either or both of these;
1)www.libs.uga.edu/
then in "Special Collections" click on
Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library - there is a link there for Rare Map Collection.
2)www.usma.edu
then click on the Academics link and under the heading "History Buffs" there is a link for "Dept. of History Maps.
Hope this is some help. ... View related article.

RE: Caring for an Aging Parent
The main thing I think (I do live in elder care 4 days per week) is to have a schedule and try to stick to it no matter what happens. Seek all possible outside help and while there probably aren't too many of his freinds still around or mobile there is bound to be some neighbor/friend/relative who could sit with him and talk about "old times' and things familiar while you take a well earned break. Every time I feel like "running away and joining the circus" I think about both my parents - now long gone - and try to do to my "patient" as I would want someone to do for my parents. God Bless and Good Luck ... View related article.

RE: Painting Nicotine Stained Walls
I had the same problem on my porch and I tried BORAX. I bought a box for under $5 and divided it between 2 large empty jars (1 for the kitchen, 1 for the laundry room). I added some BORAX to a bucket of warm water and also put some DRY BORAX in a small container. Wet the sponge/cloth in the warm water dip it in the DRY BORAX and scrub. I swear it was like magic - the nicotine stains disappeared.
