RE: School Bus Safety
These are wonderful tips and things that every bus driver should certainly be doing. However, most drivers never see the cars that hit children crossing the roadway. As we all know a vehicle can be in the danger zone in a blink of an eye. It's so very important that the drivers of these vehicles watch for these children also. When operating your vehicle never, ever go around the stop arms of a bus.

I know what you're thinking "who would do that?!!!" but it is done every day. The most dangerous drivers will actually go around the bus on the door side of the bus. Vehicles will try their best to beat a bus by pulling out in front of it or racing around it so they are not "stuck' behind a school bus. These are dangerous practices in many ways. Keep in mind that this is a bus, it will not stop on a dime and if this bus hits your vehicle you are going to injured or at the least your vehicle is going to have quite a lot of damage.

Do not tailgate a school bus, if a bus must stop suddenly or if you're not paying close attention you most likely will not hit the back of the bus but your vehicle will go under the bus which could lead to your decapitation. If you must pass a school bus be certain that you have plenty of time to return to the correct lane, though drivers are trained in defensive driving they are mostly trained in keeping their passengers safe. Leaving the roadway is more dangerous for the 63 children on bus than you hitting the oncoming car head on.

Of course bus drivers are going to try to get out of your way, but sometimes that's not possible. There could be children standing in the area waiting for a bus so your well being is not going to be the first thing the driver is concerned about.

If you're a parent and your child has missed the bus, don't try to chase the bus down and put your child on the bus, say like at a stop sign. (yes people do this) Don't drop the child off if you're sitting behind the bus at a bus stop. The bus driver may not see you or your child and there is the potential for your child to be ran over by the bus.

Please don't pass a school bus if you have every intention of making a turn off the road within several blocks, it takes time for most buses to build up speed and takes time to stop these buses.

If you're a driver that gets aggravated when getting stuck behind a bus here's a few suggestions. 1) leave your house a few minutes earlier or later. 2) If possible take a different route to work, it might be longer in miles but quicker in time if you're not being held up. If you are "stuck" behind a school bus, remember to 1) be patient and considerate. This bus driver has enough responsiblity with out having to deal with a unthinking, ill considerate driver. 2) Don't take chances with your safety and the safety of children it's better to be late than never to get there at all. And lastly keep in mind that there is probably at least one of those children that you know either directly or indirectly, do you want to be responsible for cutting their little lives short because you were running a little late? Think about it!

RE: Cleaning Bathtub Rings
Try "The Works". It comes in tub and tile cleaner and toilet cleaner. You can get it in a spray bottle or squeeze bottle. It will clean it in a second. You can look at your local "Everything's a Dollar" type store. That's where I get mine. The Dollar General carries it too and sometimes Walmart has it. ... View related article.

RE: Microfiber Cleaning System For Wood Floors
I totally agree with the other postings but just wanted to add something. The pads on the Swifter wet jet is excellent for picking up pet hair. So I don't use the spray liquid with my swifter. I use a spray bottle with 1/8 lemon juice then equal parts of vinegar and water. I simply mist a small area of the floor and use the swifter to mop it up. It cleans hard wood like a dream and the microfiber cloth picks up the hair and cuts down on streaking. ... View related article.

RE: Painting My Daughter's Room
I suggest just painting it white or egg shell. Then maybe adding a border. The thing about little girls is that in a few years when she starts school she maybe into something totally different than the decor she has now. Then you will have to repaint. I've always kept my kids walls just a basic white or off white and then added accessories to brighten it up. Plus white walls will make the room appear larger. When adding a wallpaper border I've always used thumb tacks to hang it so it's easy to get down. Most kids interest changes atleast yearly. My neice was really into Dora last year but is into Bratz now. The lime color you've suggested is a great color and very "in" but I'm betting that accessories to match that color will be hard to find in a year or so. Just my opinion. Good luck to you! ... RE: Sore Cracked Nipples from Breastfeeding
I wouldn't. I would double check that my baby was latching on to the breast correctly. That's the number one cause of sore nipples. Don't be embarrassed to call the hospital back and request an appointment with the La Leche nurse. She will assist you on the proper way for your baby to latch on. The baby must have much more in it's mouth than just the nipple. If you feel that the baby is latched correctly then call your ob and ask him what he recommends. I often heard that you shouldn't use anything. But it's been a few years since my son was nursing. Good luck and congratulations. ... View related article.

RE: I Have The Worst Luck Washing Walls!
I use a spray bottle. I use a solution of 2 tbs of alcohol(this helps the walls dry faster) then half water, half vinegar. I wipe the walls with a damp sponge, then mist the walls with the vinegar solution. Then wipe again with the sponge. I keep the sponge rinsed out and damp only. It may seem like double work to wipe first but if your walls are really dusty you could get rivers of dirt if you don't wipe first. I use this solution on all my walls, they vary from painted, papered and wood. Good luck. ... View related article.

RE: Decorating Red Satin Sheets
How about painting the wall behind his head board black and the other walls white. He could use a wall paper border on the white walls with lots of reds and blacks to tie it all in. Or paint the walls white, roll on some red paint like a wall paper border would be and then either sponge on black or rag roll some black. He could use red and black accent rugs on the floor for either idea to help tie the room together. When my son went through a stage of wanting black walls, I purchased black flat sheets and use black headed thumb tacks to cover the walls. Then about 6 months later when he changed his mind I didn't have anything to paint over. ... View related article.

RE: How to clean 30 years worth of dirt of a floor?
Try using liquid dishwasher detergent. The cheaper walmart brand is best. Just squeeze out a line of it and smear it with a damp sponge mop until the entire floor is covered. Try to keep it thick. Let it sit for a couple of hours then mop it up and rinse the floor several times. This stuff is great for cleaning. I use it on my bath tub and my counter tops when they get stained. ...
