I don't know why your Frigidaire is smelling, but I own a Frigidaire, purchased in summer of '04. You say yours is new. My recommendation would be to take it back. I have had nothing but problems with mine. I finally bought the extended warranty. My ice maker has died twice, the handles on the outside have broken. All the bins on the door have broken and the deli drawer has broken also. A friend of mine recently purchased a new fridge (Kenmore).
