RE: Removing Black Heel Marks
Try using a pencil eraser. I've used it before to get scuff marks off kitchen linoleum and it comes off real easy. I think I thought of this when I noticed my tennis shoe removed the scuff one time. ... View related article.

RE: Marker on Couch
Ink including permanent marker comes off solid surfaces including plastic, glass, metal and vinyl, and some fabrics with plain old alcohol (just as long as you get to it fast). I've even gotten it off walls years later. The walls were painted with semi gloss, but it worked. ... View related article.

RE: Getting Rid of Ants in the Kitchen
Some things I learned from living in Louisiana, home of the fire ants. Ants hate the smell of cinnamon. Boric acid kills them a little while after they walk through it and they carry it back to other ants. Also, you can pour a little washing powder in their nest to kill them and destroy the nest. However, they just usually move the nest to another area. ... View related article.

RE: Check for Weevils in Stored Food
Another thing to prevent/kill any weevils that may be in just purchased foods is as soon as you get home with the dry goods, store the dry good in the freezer for 2-3 days. This will kill any buggies (like the first frost does in the winter) that may be there while they are too small to even see. Then the dry goods can be stored indefinitely. No weevils. ... RE: Adjusting the Tension on a Serger Sewing Machine
Increase the tension the for the bottom (underside) looper a little at a time until it is the correct tension (this decreases the slack on the bottom looper), and then lastly increase the top looper tension a little at at time until its perfect.

You can practice this by re-threading your machine with a different color thread for each looper to make it easy to see where you need to increase or decrease the tension until you get the hang of it. Kimsukie ... View related article.

RE: Painting Kitchen Cabinets to Coordinate with Green-Yellow Walls
I think a golden yellow with a slight hint of brown would be beautiful. As green is my favorite color my house is golden yellow, with brown cabinets and red, green and orange accents. (pots, pans, bowls, misc. kitchenware. ... View related article.

Cheap Easy Fabric Softener
Purchase a large bottle of your favorite fabric softner; say for maybe 3 dollars. Then pour into a fine mist bottle, mist 3-6 mists inside of the dryer before adding wet clothes. This provides for the best smelling clothes ever, no dryer sheets to look for and so on the cheap. There are six in my family, one bottle will last 3 or 4 months or more or so. Never had any problems with this and have been doing this for 6-9 years. ... View related article.
