I agree with trying tuna. I've never known a cat to refuse it. They usually knock down who and whatever is in the way to get to it. Good luck! ... View related article.
By the way y'all, he wrapped himself up like this himself...I know, I'm ridiculously proud of my pets. :) Thanks for the comments! ... View related article.
Wally's story gives me hope for my lab/border collie! I'm glad he came through when you needed him to. You can't help but love the boy, I'm sure. Yea Wally! (Adorable picture.) ... View related article.
Try putting in a cup of white vinegar with the wash...We've had to bath our dogs in the same stinky sulphur stuff, and vinegar cuts the smell. (I use hot water, too.) ... View related article.
Well, I'd say that he is just trying to mark territory. My male dog would pee in "his" chair after my husband would sit in it. I'm sure it's just that he is trying to establish some kind of place at your friend's house. After I first got married, my dog even peed in our bed--but only on my husband's side. He hasn't done it in a long time though, so maybe after the dog figures out who is in charge and such, he'll quit. ... View related article.
Well, my husband and I do a lot of free/cheap stuff. We go to the mall (only good if you have the will the resist), we usually go "play" at Wal-mart...sounds silly, but we bond and I learn all about car stuff and electronics (yea) and we just walk around and talk and laugh.
At a particularly low budget time, we went to the Dollar Store, found some cheap toys to keep us entertained, and subjected the dogs to our silliness. You could also try going to a matinee movie, or enjoy eating out at an inexpensive place. And since it will be spring soon, you could find some art fairs or farmers markets to stroll through...oh, and how about going to antique stores or garage sales? Having a nice breakfast and going out in the morning can sometimes be a nice change from the norm. Good luck and have fun! ... View related article.
This may sound impossible, but you can use straight pins instead of nails. Just be delicate when first hammering each in (so it doesn't bend). I've hung many framed pictures, hats, and even wooden decorations on straight pins...as for the actual display, maybe try nice wood hangers?
You can group things together by type (purses in one area, hats in another). Or, pick something to be the center of the display and hang things around that. Actually, having a center to work off of may look the best. And you don't have to have hangers...just use the nail, pins, or hooks as the hanger. :) ... View related article.
I'd say any kind of decoration would be great...but as a teacher (and especially when I was a student teacher) the most meaningful thing to me is (was) notes from students. In all their misspellings, strange grammar, and such--their words are the most meaningful and encouraging. Maybe have them write and draw something, then put up the pictures and notes, then have a binder ready to put all the sentiments in so she can take it with her. (A binder makes it easy to take the memories with her, wherever she goes.) ... View related article.
My dog did the same and eats everything along the way. I'd be careful about letting your pup sleep on the shreds if she might eat them. Would she tear apart sheets or a hardy blanket like an army-type one? Maybe stroll through the fabric department at Wal-Mart and see if there is any durable fabric. You could get that fabric and sew it together (no stuffing) and if the stiches are tight enough, maybe she won't get through. I did this with my lab mix and it lasted until she peed on it and it got too gross to wash. Also, can you try spraying the bedding with the no chew spray?
Just don't give up on the baby. Even if she has to sleep in the kennel without padding, maybe it won't be but for a few weeks. Good luck!
Oh, and here's a tip for puppies/dogs that chew and eat things they're not supposed to. If it's glass (or a Christmas ornament) give it a cotton ball or two, a couple more for a big dog, to eat. (Soak it in something that they like the flavor of.) The cotton picks up all the glass shards and gets it out of their system without cutting them up. And if she gets into something bad for her and you need her to vomit it up, give her a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. ... View related article.
