I am a retired 60 yr old married women with three children. 8 grandchildren . My husband is a 66 yrs old Semi-retired trucker. We have 1 large dog Queen, Rottie / Dobbie cross We were both born & brought up in NH. I enjoy crafts and just enjoy doing projects for my home. I love making soup, cut up small the following onions, celery, carrots, garlic, as much as you want, I cheat I use a hand chopper, salt & pepper to taste. I add water to cover over about 1-2 inches, cover pot, boil slowly until tender. I use left over meat either chicken, hamburg, steak from a meal before.
Cut up or break up small. ( for us, we like left over meatloaf made with a tomato sauce, remove the fat.) the favor is so great. Add low salt broth, chicken, beef or veggie, as many as you need to serve the number of people you have. I add diced tomatoes, Then I add veggies I use leftovers, corn, peas, carrots, green/yellow beans or fozen the cheapest I can find. I even us the canned veggies if I have to. What ever is on hand.
Once the onion & celery, carrots are tender at the very beginning My pot goes on the wood stove & just simmers. I like rice & my husband doesn't so I add my cooked rice as I want to my bowl. Years ago my Mother called this refrigerator soup. You can make this a thick or thin soup, add as you go depending on the amount of people. I find keeping broth, frozen veggie, & my basic is a meal ready to make. This is the best meal on a cold New England winter day. The perfect warm up. with a good old grill cheese sandwich. Oh Yes, I did that too, while I was working. Now they sell at Craft shows what is called Coolbands I have had my three (3) for a few years now. I even place one on my dog in the very hot weather. I personally had to learn to say NO, I am Sorry but I didn't really like doing it. I am on a fixed income and my budget only allows so much money to Donate. I pick the ones I believe in. I mail my money to the main headquarters, not from hand to hand to whoever. If I didn't learn to do this, someone would have to DONATE to me because I would be broke, between the mail, calls, schools etc. It a everyday thing and after saying NO a few times the calls slow down and the mail becomes less. Well I was always told to pound the ground or floor with a stick the vibrations will make a snake move I not sure if this works or not. I watch the sales, and stock up on the little things, freeze the veggie that I can when they are in season, make all my pies ahead So I really only have to shop for the meat part of the meal for me this is a way to save money In the end my meal is ready & still home made, veggie are from the fresh farmers maket. and I can enjoy my family. ... To keep my passwords safe I use a jounal and have used an address book. When we travel I take my book with me. So when I use a friend or family computer I have all my information with me. But instead of writting down the password on certain sites such as my bank & credit cards etc. I use a code that only myself & husband knows the answers for.
