| RE: Cocker Spaniel Has Severe Allergies |
|
My male scottish terrier is allergic to a wide variety of foods and plants (including soy products, poultry, carrots, cod, salmon). After blood tests and biopsies, many months of hydroxizine, termaril P, prednisone, etc; we finally convinced the vet to try Atopica and he's a totally different dog. You will start off with one tablet a day and work your way up to one tablet every four days or so. Be prepared tho, it runs about $70 for a box of 15 tablets. It's expensive to start with, but once you get the doses spread out, it's not bad. Good luck. ... View related article. |

Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace body mist. I know it's not the most frugal, but it works wonders and it doesn't leave you smelling like a hazmat accident. Other vanilla scented body mists might work too, I've not tried them tho. We discovered this while working construction. Even the most manly man was borrowing it when they noticed they were being carried away and I wasn't. ... View related article. |

| RE: Crafts Using Wedding Dress Underlining |
Depending on yardage, you could use it for a small decorative quilt, and embroidery your parents wedding date/name on one square, your name on one (with your spouse and date if married) on another, siblings on others. Or just the children and use beads or embroidered embellishments on the random squares to make a family tree type.
Or, put your parents names and anniversary in the middle square, then print photo's of them and their children on the transfers you can buy and use those on other squares. I made a "memory" quilt (made 10" squares with 2" binding) out of my wedding dress lining for my son/daughter in law doing this with their names/date in the center, a couple of random squares had the lace appliques from the outer layer, some had embroidered flowers in their wedding colors, etc.
This way I still have the outer layer and some of the lining for a gown for future grandchildren. ... View related article. |

| RE: Chickens Eating Tomato Plant Leaves |
|
Very well could of been your chickens, but it could of been a tomato (horned) worms too. They'll get on your tomato plants and eat every leaf on there if you leave them. They look mean, with a 'horn' on them. They're not easy to find, but if you'll go out about dusk with a flashlight they're easier to hunt down. They tend to hide under the stalk out of the sun during the day and come out more after dusk to eat. I 'pick' mine off and put them in a coffee can with a lid and save them for the hens the next day. ... View related article. |

| RE: Homemade Laundry Soap with Ivory Soap |
|
What exactly is "washing soda"? Are you talking about powdered laundry detergent? Also, how long does this last? With just my husband and I we don't do that much laundry. Most of our clothes are worn twice unless soiled the first time. Towels get washed each use due to dermatitis I develop ( rinsing does not remove all detergent and when you use the towel to dry, the dampness reactivates the detergent which causes dermatitis on me. Undergarments, dish cloths, bath towels/wash cloths and socks all get washed after every use. ... View related article. |

| RE: Recipes Using Rolled Oats |
|
You can use it as filler in meat loaves also, just substitute the oatmeal for the crackers/bread you'd normally use. I've also processed it and added it to flavored cracker crumbs for breading on chicken and pork. If you make dressing (or stuffing depending on where you're from) the ground oats can also be used when you're mixing the baked cornbread and broth before baking. It's basically just a filler in this case so make sure your spices are sufficient for the amended recipe. ... View related article. |

| RE: Homemade Products for People With Allergies |

I saw recipe for powdered deodorant recently with 2 parts baking soda and 1 part corn starch. Applied with a puff (that part sounds girly but no one would know but him). As for shampoo, baby shampoo is just about as pure (gentle) as you can get. Both would be frugal and neither could hurt for a try. ... View related article. |

| RE: Stopping Scam Phone Calls |
|
I've got these calls on my home phone AND my cell phone after repeatedly requesting them to remove me. I'm on the do not call list for both numbers. As for caller ID, it doesn't do any good because when I call the number displayed I get the "We're sorry, the number you have dialed is no longer a working number. Please check the number and dial again." I've simply quit answering any call from a number I don't recognize, then google'ing it to see if it's a valid number lol ... View related article. |
