Hi,my name is Kay aka Memaw aka Sunshine.I am a 62 yr young retired homebody and love to make things ,mostly sewing, from scraps of cloth or recycled items.I am 61yrs young,2 kids,4 grandkids.

My grandmother taught me how to sew many years ago.She was an expert, however I don't have her patience so I stick to simple projects.

Most of the things I make I give away as gifts,it's fun and keeps my mind occupied.

Until later...........Kay aka Memaw aka Sunshine

RE: Ants in Dishwasher
The ants have a nest somewhere and they're looking for water and food. Find the nest by following the ant trail.Go outside and look all around the foundation of the house. Remove all bushes and weeds, vines, etc they may be climbing up on. If you find the trail put down some Terro right where they cross over the path. You can buy Terro at the grocery store and it works great. If you have a large nest, you may have to call in pest control. The Terro takes a few days to work but you have to keep putting it down every so often.Ants love this stuff. Just don't disturb them, they will come to the Terro and drink it, then take it to the nest.

I had a bad infestation and although I fed them Terro for a week, they seem to keep coming back so I bought some Black Flag spray and sprayed everywhere I found an ant and all around the areas where they were trailing. It worked! The ants are all gone! Then I finally found the nest in the yard. It was in the end of a chain link fence pole. Ants can nest anywhere.l Guess where they went....next door...lol

RE: Natural Remedies for Tinnitus
Hi Lynn
Yes I know the feeling, I have it too. This is what helps me, when he goes to bed turn the TV sound just to where he can barely hear it and put a small fan at the end of the bed on low speed. The slight sound will tune out the tinnitus.I don't believe caffeine has anything to do with tinnitus but some people may experience symptoms in different ways.Stress can make it worse so he needs to stay calm.

No there is no cure but it's manageable.Allergies, like in the springtime can also make it worse. AS long as there's some kind of sound around, he won't be bothered with it so much. Good luck! ... View related article.

RE: Reusing Old Sheets
Make some simple grocery tote bags using this tutorial
http://www.lazygirldesigns.com/blog/?p=913
I am making some now, you can use sheets or any other fabric you like.
You can make one in about an hour or less and make them larger or smaller, whatever size you want.I find that 30" for the top and 40-45" for the length makes a good size bag for groceries. The lining is simple, just fold half the bag into itself.Well you'll see when you read the tute! ... RE: Tips for Fishing Without a Boat
First of all you need a good rod and reel, I always used open face catfish reels and fairly long rods. Find you some sturdy sticks with a V in the top and stick them in the ground to hold the rod. Fish can sense when you have hold of the rod so it's best to prop it up. Go to Walmart, K-mart,etc and get some "fishing bells" to clip on the end of the rod. When a fish bites the bell rings! Catfish will pull on the line several times before they take the bait so watch it for a while, you will know when he strikes, he will pull it down hard.

Also be sure you have some 20 lb line as a big cat can break thin line. When you grab the rod, pull straight up on it to keep the catfish from swimming under logs. They will try to get tangled up to get off the line.Start reeling it in as soon as you pull up on it. Smart fish, huh? Catfish live and breed in and around rocks and logs so catching them is a challenge.

Put a heavy weight on the line also that will keep the bait lying on the bottom as they are bottom feeders. The best bait I've used is chicken livers, that stuff in the stores doesn't work. Cats can smell blood!

Fish early in the morning or around dusk dark, that's when they come out in search of food. Channel cats live mostly in deep water, flatheads live mostly on the bottom.Channel cats are the best kind to eat, silver blue in color, flatheads are muddy looking and ugly!

Beware of your rod at all times as a big cat can take your rod into the water and you'll lose it!
As for other fish, well I tried bass, never had any luck, brim is easy to catch with worms and a bobber.

I haven't been fishing in a long time but still remember the good times I had so have fun, hope you catch a bunch! Marian ... View related article.

RE: Ants In Yard and Driveway
Terro works but it takes a few days so you have to have patience and keep on feeding it to them, they are attracted to the scent.Put a couple of drops on the small squares of paper and watch them come to it.They take it back to the nest. Follow the ants to see where they are going, you might find the nest.
You can find Terro at the grocery store, an orange and white box. It's about $2.00. I've been fighting them for 2 weeks now but they are thinning out.

Check all around the foundation of your house, they are looking for food so they may have a line running up something into a crack in the foundation. They're also carrying eggs, if you see one with a white dot in it's mouth.
Remove all vegetation, climbing vines, or anything that's leaning up against the house they can climb on.Stop up any holes or cracks you find. they also like gutters, siding, anywhere they can get into.
I also bought some Black Flag spray and killed a lot of them, the more you kill the better.
Good luck! ... View related article.

RE: Noisy Water Heater
Call the city utility company, tell them about it, it could be dangerous if it's a gas heater. They will come cut off the gas for you until it's fixed. I had this same problem, found out the heater was clogged up and had to be cleaned out by the landlord. It was shooting fire out of the bottom of the heater, scared the crap out of me! Be careful, don't get too close to it. ... View related article.
