I have spent 34 years in the floral and event planning fields. If you have questions regarding an event or wedding as to what or how to do something or even on cutting costs but not making it look as though you did, PLEASE feel free to contact me and I will do my best to help you with the situation you are having, sorry I only give advice on events and weddings, not relationships or in-laws / out-laws but I can give some unique ideas as to how and smooth the silk for your event or wedding. I am able to give a ton of ideas, you just need to have the questions. I am able to give help regardless of the area that you are located. I look forward to your requests!
After being in the floral business 34 years and speaking from experience you will not be able to preserve the color of the chosen blooms to dry them. You can hang them upside down and tied together in a cool dry location, dark is good until they are dried. You should be able to buy at a craft store or on line a floral spray mist/tint, this will help to bring the color up some but it will not bring it back to the original natural color.
Also, carnations are known to shrivel up and become not all that attractive once dried. Roses hang upside down while still a bit closed as they will open a little more once hung to dry. A hook cut from wire is best to use. Rubber band the bottom of the stems 3 or 4 to a group, slide the hook in and under the rubber band and then put the other end of the hook over a coat hanger and pinch closed. Hang up the coat hanger in the basement or attic, garage or even a closet if you have room, should take about 2 weeks to be completely dry. Don't put too many together or they will mold and get smelly, not to forget it will not be attractive on the blooms.
Body and soap oil build up on the inside of the pipes, we tried and it worked as well. We boiled a big pot of water, carefully we took it to the shower and poured it down the drain slow but steady as to fill the drain, we repeated this twice and no more clog! Good luck. Also if you can get the plate off of the drain you can use a straightened out coat hanger with a slight "hook" on the end and "chewed up" with wire cutters to grab the loose, balled hair in the drain.
Simply insert the hanger into the drain after you have done the first bucket of hot water, slide the hanger in as far as possible and slightly turn into a circle to catch any loose hair in the drain followed by the second bucket of hot water. You can also use to boil it out is 4 cups of vinegar with 1 cup of baking soda. Pour the soda down the drain and follow with the vinegar, it will boil and bubble clearing out built up oils and soap residue, this will also help sweeten the drain as well! ... View related article.
First off, garlic salt is not the same as garlic cloves or fresh chopped garlic, much less strength in the salt product, but regardless garlic really does not do anything to rid the fleas, just gives the dog a stinky breath! You also do not want to add salt to a pets diet as it can throw them out of wack with increased salt intake. Try using Vitamin D, 2 a day seem to work.
Also you can use lavender oil on the bed that they sleep, fleas hate lavender. It works to plant lavender around your house to keep them out of your yard as well. We use the yeast tablets from the health store. We have a 200 pound "puppy", he is a Newfoundland, we give him 2 tablets twice a day as we did for our other dogs and we have absolutely no fleas. I would know if they were still here, as I am allergic to the bites and have not had a single one in two years. Best of luck to you! ... View related article.
You can get rid of them this way for sure. Using a 50 / 50 mixture of white vinegar and water use a foam paintbrush, they work best for this and literally paint all around the cabinet counter tops with this mixture as well as use a cloth and wash down all of the cabinet tops also. The paint brush around the edges will get into the little cracks that would not normally be hit with the solution. This works perfect. Also take bay leaves (fresh is best, but dried will work) and put them into the back of all drawers and inside to the back of all cabinets, the ants hate the smell etc and wont be back!
Also, if you notice any ants outside you can get rid of them naturally as well. Use dry cat food 1/2 cup mixed with GRAPE jelly 1/4 cup (they only like grape for some reason) with a tablespoon of boric acid, let it soak until it becomes "soggy / doughy" and mix thoroughly. Make small little balls about the size of a marble and place around outside of house where you notice any ants. They will take the new food back to the nest and the queen. The mixture with the boric acid will kill them off quick and easy, naturally as well so as to not hurt any other animals. Stick the little balls into crevices to keep out of site and reach of little fingers.
You can find them at your local craft stores especially now with the fall season upon us. Another good option is to see if you have a floral wholesaler, you may be able to call and tell them what you are in search of and they can give a lead. Also try your local plant nursery, especially ones that also carry indoor plants as the size you are looking for are used to start small african violets etc. Also look on line for Michaels arts and crafts as well as Craft warehouse, one last resort is called " The Dollar Store" they are on line and carry this type of stuff as well. Lots of leads and good luck on your project! ... View related article.
This is from the finish used when the towels are manufactured. To clear the problem just wash the towels in hotest water possible to avid shrinkage and color fade but add a cup of plain white vinager to the wash water this will help strip all finish and any laundry soap build up that are on the towels. A special finish is used to make them appear softer and fluffy at the store. They will be fluffy, soft and they will absorb the water, imagine that a towel that actually does what it is intended to do, absorb water not just look and feel pretty. ... View related article.
A couple options for you, one is to use upholstery cleaner like what you would use on your sofa or chair, just follow the directions.
Secondly you can use baking soda, yep good ol' Arm and Hammer baking soda (store brand works just as well) just sprinkle it on quite heavy and then use your hand or a towel around your hand and rub it in in a circular motion making sure to get the edges well also, after you have done this let it stay for anywhere from 30 min to a few days if you can leave it unmade. Once ready to finish up simply just use your vac with the hose attachment for stairs works the best as it has a little brush on the one side and don't forget to get the creases around the seams. Once finished it will smell fresh and clean!
To also help beat summer heat while trying to sleep, sprinkle a little baking soda on the sheets, will feel crisp and cool, just give it a try!
This also works great on bed pillows as well. Try this on carpets where pets lay or you have lots of bare foot traffic as it helps to absorb the oil from your feet and it will take the pet smells out of the carpet also! ... View related article.
Vinal is a no go for common sense reasons but as far as ceramic and stone make sure it is also heat resistant or able to handle some heat but most definitely you can. Make sure you use a sealant that is non toxic to seal the grout and tile tops a couple coats should be fine possibly reseal about once a year more often if you have heavy counter usage. Good luck, have fun and post a picture here when you are finished with your project, it will be good to see a finished project that was finished and usable too! As an added thought if you need space next to the stove for hot pans etc, consider having a cutting board made at a local cabinet makers shop to the thickness of the tiles or a nylon one you can purchase at your local kitchen store etc to be level at the top with the tiles, this will give you a safety zone for hot pans with no fear of breaking a tile. Possibly have it so you are able to remove it for cleaning and sanitation, pop it out, clean in and under, pop it in! ... View related article.
As a floral designer for 34 years we did use battery operated lights indoors, be careful as they do go through the batteries quick. We would use the battery pack lights in floral arrangements on tables, centerpieces, chandeliers for an elegant look with garlands at holidays as well as I am using them in a wig small rice lights 15ct for a holiday charity fundraiser, this will surely get some attention and hopefully bids for the charity too! So yes they work fine and you will have fun figuring all the different places to use them. In a beautiful crystal bowl filled with holiday christmas balls and a string of battery lights sprinkeled and hidden in the mix makes for an elegant holiday disply on your table. ... NO, no, no, the dye will get into the little areas you dont think about and will give "shed" color to items over the next few washings afterward. If you do decide to use your washer be sure to run at least 3 empty loads( waste of water and power ) with 2 cups white vinager in the water, no soap but it can also stain any light plastic parts as well. Best solution is to either use a 5 gallon bucket and do it the "hippy way " lol or go to the local pay laundry, you will be glad you did! ... View related article.
