RE: Instructions for Kool Aid Jammer Wallets
Kool-Aid & Caprisun Purse Instructions

If you hadn't heard of these don't feel bad. I hadn't until my daughters best friend "schooled" me (she is 7 by the way) These have become the rave of young girls, and cute, plus it is recyclying, so I say it is a great project!

Here is how you make them and these are not my instructions but the only I could find on the entire WWW !! At the bottom are links to auctions of these purses that people have made and are selling like crazy!
Quote:

KOOL AID PURSES!!

A small bag like the Capri Sun bag in the link takes 10 bags. I especially like to get the 6 different flavors of Kool Aid to give a variety of colors to the purse. To clean the bags I take a serrated knife and slit the fold that is in the bottom of the bags. I soak them in soapy water, then rinse, shake water out, and leave to dry.

To make the handles, I take 2 bags (of different colors) and tri-fold them vertically and then cut on the fold lines to make 3 strips from each of the 2 bags. I take 2 strips of different colors and zig zag in white thread on the sewing machine to make one long strip. With 2 strips, each 2 strips long, I tri-fold them long wise and zig zag down the length to secure.

Now for the fronts and sides--Take two bags (again, I use different colors), abutting them side by side with an over lap in the middle of about 1/4". Zig zag down that length in the middle. Do this again (I use 2 more different colors) for the other side. Fold down the top of each side about 1/2" and zig zag close to the top, securing the handles (I also add a round velcro in the middle of each piece to use for closing the bag). Zig zag again about 1/2" from the top, securing the handles with 2 lines of stitching.

Now for the bottom of the bag--Take 2 bags and overlap them to be the same length as the 2 bag fronts sewn together for the front and the back piece. Zig zag the 2 bottom bags together in a Z pattern to secure and reinforce. Bottom to sides--Place the bottom piece along the bottom of a side, wrong sides together. Zig zag right along the edge, leaving about 1/4" free on each end. Zig zag the bottom's other edge to the back side, again leaving 1/4" free on each end.

Now for the sides--Take 2 more bags(this is where I use a fifth and then sixth color) and fold down the top about 1/2" and zig zag right along the top edge and then again 1/2" down. Place an edge of the side to an edge of a front, wrong sides together, and zig zag along the edge from the very top to the very bottom (this is where it helps to have left that 1/4" free on each end!) Do again with the other side of the side, then stitch in the other end. I make the bigger bags by making each front piece with 6 bags, 2 rows, each with 3 bags. The bag is then 2 bags tall, and use 2 bags for each side, and three bags for the bottom.

I'm sorry, but I didn't realize CraftyDiva had posted about these previously. But atleast you all have the instructions anyhow for anyone that still may be interested in making some. I know this link was also posted, Different Juice Bag Purses but it has some really neat ideas on it.

Also, have you seen or heard of the new Magazine purses?? They are pretty neat too!

Here is link to some like they are selling on Ebay..
Magazine Purses

YOu could make them out of any kind of paper. Old Calanders would be so cute! YOu could also put glitter or small nick nacks in between the vinyl for a little girls purse. You also wouldn't have to buy the vinyl. You could use a clear shower curtain and then use the eyes at the top for the holes to string the handles through. Or you could use those plastic song or photo album holders. They are super cheap. Another option is just laminating them. ... View related article.
