| RE: Cleaning Suede Shoes |
|
I had a pair of light colored suede shoes that were not worn out but were very stained and grubby looking. I hammered the surface of them all around until they were shiny, then polished them with black shoe polish. They came up a treat and were the softest 'leather' looking shoes I ever had. I kept them for years afterward, as they were so comfortable. When they were on their way out I then used them for gardening shoes for a while longer! ... View related article. |

| RE: Keeping the Space Over Cupboards Clean |

Good idea Raymonde but I use left over rolls of wallpaper to put on top of bedroom wardrobes etc. Downstairs in the kitchen I use aluminium foil as there is less danger of it catching fire. ... View related article. |

| RE: Mismatched Sock Solutions |
|
What I do is I sort out my sock drawer about every year or so and collect up any odd socks, buy some blue dye and dye them all the same colour. You can then wear them again-it doesn't matter that they are not exactly the same. If I buy any new socks I either buy blue or grey and then mix/dye to get pairs from odd ones! cool eh! ... | RE: Hiding a House Key Outside |
|
I remember my father locked himself out of the house once, as I was with him at the time. He said "I have a spare key hidden in the cement joint in the wall in a plastic bag. I haven't used it before". When he tried to use it it so was crusted up with rust it would not fit in the lock. It had been there at least ten years, and we had to wait for mother to return home to let us in! ... View related article. |

| RE: Repairing Umbrellas |
|
I successfully repaired two broken umbrellas yesterday that had a couple of spokes sticking out. I used some plastic biro tops- (the ones that didn't have a vent hole at the end). I made a small horizontal hole right through near the end of the plastic top for threading. I then placed the biro tops on the end of the spokes, pulled the canvas and sewed it through the hole. It was much easier to sew with the umbrella in the unused (down) position if you get my meaning! ... View related article. |

This is great Saber - I do the same thing with all my products like this, eg balance an empty HP sauce bottle( neck down) on the top of another one( neck up) an wait until all the contents transfer. | RE: Pruning an Umbrella Plant |
I would recommend 'Air-layering' I have tried this before on an umbrella plant that became very leggy. it is quite easy to do. Its not pruning but you get another plant for free! You just need a bit of patience, and I was very pleased with the result when it was successful on my first attempt. The link below shows how it is done. Good Luck with it-Richard:
