RE: How to Grow Lilies
The Lily Nook has a lot of lilies and ship them all over the world. They also have a great website that has many pictures of the lilies that they carry and a lot of articles. This is the address of the page with all the articles. It should answer your question on planting and growing lilies.

RE: Oven Fried Potatoes
Olive oil will work also. I may also use minced garlic and also add sliced onions or carrots sometimes.
Sometimes I will add parsley or basil or oregano or whatever other spices I feel like at the time. My sister adds dill to hers.
I mix my sliced potatoes with all the oil and spices in a large bowl, tossing to coat everything. Then I dump everything onto a foil lined cookie sheet and bake, turning them once to brown the edges.

Make sure that there is nothing outside for her to roll in. Take her out on a leash and stay with her as she does her business then bring her back in.
My female cocker also will roll in the poop of other animals but then I just leave her outside all summer. We just do not pet her for a while then.

RE: Can a puppy wear a flea collar?
I assume so, because I have seen puppy flea collars for sale at stores. I think the puppy has to be a few months old though before they can wear it.

RE: Keeping Grass From Growing In a Flower Bed
If you have some roundup then... place your hand into a rubber glove then slip your gloved hand into a cloth glove of some sort. Dip into the roundup and gently run your gloved finger up the blade of grass. No more grass. Keep the cloth and rubber glove well marked for use only for roundup applications.

RE: Easy Weeding Without Chemicals
fletcher,
If you just clip the dandelion to the ground the dandelion root will just keep getting larger and larger and next time it comes up with leaves they will be more mature and larger. Cutting to the ground on a dandelion and then putting a few drops of roundup with an eyedropper on the freshly cut root will work though.
Roundup on dandelions...I dribble a little stream down one or two leaves of the dandelion. That is enough to kill the dandelion and not touch the grass. It's too bad that your neighbor applies roundup in the way you described. Once the roundup hits the grass on your side of the lawn it is too late. We had a neighbor do this with the lawn running beside our driveway here in the country. He said he was just going to 'claim' back his field. But, once the roundup was down, it was too late. Grass is dead and we have now had to mow the weeds that have been growing in the area ever since. ... View related article. |

RE: Planting Peonies
Onie,
This is a quote from another site on the net....
'Ants are attracted to peonies because of the sweet sap the flower buds secrete. It is a myth that ants are necessary to permit peonies to bloom.
A common problem of peonies is the failure to bloom. It may be the result of planting too deeply, immature plants, excess nitrogen, inadequate sunlight, overcrowding, nutrient deficiency, insect or disease problems, competition from roots of nearby plants or late freezes. Some cultivars will fail to bloom in zones 8 and 9 because they lack sufficient winter chilling.'
Maybe hers died because of excess chemical she used. It was definitely not because of lack of ants.

What about putting up a little hammock in the corner of your room for all the beanie babies to go into? This is what we did with all the stuffed animals in each of the kids' rooms when the kids were still living at home.
