RE: Dark Colored Shih Tzu
I had one who was completely black when young and as he became older turned the color of yours. I rescue Shih Tzus who have been abused or have major health problems. Have 6 right now! JoanDogs ... View related article.

RE: My Dog's Spine is Sticking Up
As dogs get older their muscles lose their tone and their spine and sometimes hips protrude to some extent. I take my older dogs for a walk, starting with about 10 minutes and at their speed, increasing over time and after about 3 months, we are walking 1 mile. It improves the tone of their muscles and is great exercise for us both. JoanDogs ... View related article.

RE: Storing Coffee
I put the ground coffee in pint or quart ZipLoc bags and squeeze air out and store in the freezer with great success. I keep a 2 cup ZipLoc plastic container in the refrigerator and refill it as needed, usually every 8 days with the coffee from the freezer.

RE: Saving Money on Pet Supplies
I make my own beds-Polar Fleece [$6 @ yd, $1.29 for Polyfil]. Bought a fiberboard 24" in diameter from bakery store. Trace around fiberboard, cut out 2 layers, machine sew around edge leaving hand size opening to stuff it, turn right side out, stuff and hand sew opening closed. These go through the washer and dryer beautifully. Also they aren't stuffed with all the 'floor sweepings' that beds bought are!!!! Any left over scraps I sew as for the beds, stuff with polyfil and close. Can get 2-4 beds for the price of one bought in Petco! Fantastic site for pet things is UPCO.com. Top quality, low prices!! RE: Olive Oil for Fleas
Clipped from Yankee mag 20+ years ago-3 drops of American Cedar Leaf oil on a 3 inch piece of brown grocery bag in each corner of every room weekly will make the house like a cedar closet and rid it of 99% of insects. Scent leaves so people can't smell it. I have 6 dogs, live in the woods and use this every year-no fleas at all. Purchase at LorAnn Oils 1-800-862-8620. Is expensive $26. for 4 oz, but I'm still working on the same bottle 4 yrs later! Joandogs ... View related article.

RE: Inspecting Your Foundation
An easy way to clean the mold/mildew off siding is using Krud Kutter, found at Lowe's. Took off mold/mildew that had been on my siding 3 yrs with little effort! Sprayed on, let set 5 minutes and hosed off. Siding looks new. Also worked on s/s kitchen sink, bath tub, dog urine stain on white chair and spaghetti sauce on white blouse that had been washed and dried!!! Non toxic, no odor and spray bottle of 40 oz was less that $6.00 and after using it for all mentioned, still have &frac; bottle left! Joandogs ... View related article.

RE: Keeping Tote Bags in the Car
I also keep a few 'wee-wee' pads which help catch spills from little ones eating in the car. The best thing I have is a large cooler bungied to my rear seat. Helps keep food cool in summer and won't let it freeze in the winter.
