RE: Pergo Floor Squeaks
Try sprinkling some baby powder (talc) on the squeaky spots and see what happens. Just sweep into the "cracks" and then sweep up excess. May have to reapply every once in a while. ... View related article.

RE: New Children's Furniture Smells Bad
I would insist they take it back. Doesn't matter if no one else complained - you are! It could be toxic, especially if made in China! As the other posts indicated they had reactions to some type of toxic element. I would not take chances and insist on them taking it back! ... View related article.

RE: Could This Be a Piano Stool?
Yes, it IS a piano stool. It adjusts for height by spinning the seat of the stool around. ... View related article.

RE: Recommendations for Wireless Driveway Alarm
I used one when we lived quite a ways from anyone else and I could never tell who was coming up to the door. I put the "detector" up on the carport awning and the ringer inside the washroom. The think went off just about every 20 minutes or so - wild animals - cats, dogs, squirrels, even a bird or two. Drove me crazy so I moved the thing higher and it worked very nicely for people! Loved it! You can also put it somewhere on your drive way or anywhere you think people will pass before reaching your doorway! ... View related article.

RE: Gift Ideas for Operation Christmas Child
As mentioned you cannot send any liquids, but you can send talc powders, solid perfumes, dry potpourri, Gel pens, small puzzles, stuffed animals, sticky note pads. It is hard to think of items for a teen that would fit in a shoe box! and of course a Bible. The Dollar stores usually have one for $5 and our Christian Book store has some pocket sized for less than a dollar! Good luck and God Bless. This is a great ministry! ... View related article.

RE: Inexpensive Christmas Gift Ideas for Nurses
We are30 in our Sunday School class and every year it gets more expensive. I have done clear glass ball ornaments with paint poured inside and swished and then written on the outside the year and class name. this year I am quilling angel (just paper and time) hanging ornaments. I have made homemade soap, candles, etc. Fast, cheap and useful! ... View related article.

RE: Making a Compost Bin With a Plastic Garbage Can
I made one from a garbage can and found it to be unwieldy and hard to use. I then used the 18-20 gallon storage bin containers and it was much easier to handle. I just poked several holes all around the side and bottom of the container. Then compost away. It was easy for me to turn the bin over (hard to roll a garbage can, lid kept coming off) and shift it every other day or so. Made beautiful compost too! ... View related article.

RE: Growing a Tree from a Willow Cutting
I don't know how to start one but I DO know the one we had (weeping willow) in our yard in Louisiana interfered with the plumbing! they are very invasive and not good near any plumbing lines. Put it far, far away from the house! It was beautiful and I enjoyed it until it started it's bad ways and I'll never have another! ... View related article.

RE: Starting a Compost Pile
Any plant materials can go into your compost (leaves, cut grass, deadheaded plants, tiny limbs; any vegetable scraps, fruit scraps and paper scraps from your kitchen. Just NO fats or meats of any kind. I even rescue worms from the rain (lying on the pavement) and put them into the pile. A lot just naturally show up. Even shredded newspaper is very good. It doesn't take very long for my pile to actually compost. Enjoy! ... View related article.
