RE: Pantyhose Onion Holder
Would it work with other things: tomatoes, strawberries and grapes? Sometimes we are not home during the week to eat them as fast as we should. Just curious. Good idea, though. ... View related article.

RE: Cell Phone For User With Hearing Loss
I got me a bluetooth. Mine is a Motorla H710. I have had very little problem with it. Any phone I use w/o it just is not loud enough. Although when I had a Motorola W315 phone, if it was quiet enough I could hear w/o a bluetooth (it wasn't b-t enabled, which was part of why I upgraded to a phone that was). I could not have something that entered my ear, but rested on it. You could invest in a Jawbone (brand), but some of those can be over 100 and even close to 200 dollars in my area. My H710 can be found online for about 40 dollars. If you go to wal mart, check online first, cos sometimes the online price is a LOT lower than in store.
Good Luck. ... View related article.

RE: Leo (Ginger Tabby)
Awww, what a sweet boy! I also agree. Anyone who could hurt an animal is lower than low. I understand that there are those who aren't the animal type, but if they aren't then they should not own or be near animals. Have the decency to respect the animal enough to leave that animal in the peace he expects to left in.

Hugs to you for your patience, love, and kindness to rescue this beautiful cat. Thank you. Peace. ... View related article.

RE: What Kind Of Lizard Is This?
I did some looking on google, and from the photos I have seen, it looks to be some kind of Gecko. He is cute. How big is he? I don't see any poisonous animals in NZ. Australia, however, is a different story. They have ten of the world's most poisonous animals. Wow.

Anyhow, just what I found googling about. Peace

RE: Bella (Husky/German Shepherd)
Aw, sweet dog! It is not a crime to not like animals (but what a world of love they miss out on), but if one does not like animals, then don't get any.

I truly think that karma will get that monster who abused the dogs. Maybe not immediately, and not where you can see, but it will catch up to that so and so (thinking stronger names, though).

Bless you for having a kind and loving heart and willing to open your home and your arms to this sweet dog. If I am not mistaken, Bella means Beautiful in Italian. And she is. Peace. ... View related article.

RE: Using Unlocked Cell Phone with US Cellular
I just had a horror story with buying a cell on ebay. The first phone was still attached to an active phone number in MA (the seller is from CA), even though their ad claims that the ESNs are clean and clear, then when I called to complain, I had to send that phone back and they gave me another phone that was so sorry it fell literally apart in my daughter's hands. I knew the phones were refurbished, but the seller's score was high and so I thought I could trust them. I have not left feedback yet, but I am going to email them first and tell them what I think of their phones. They gave me positive feedback, but then I paid straight away.

I would talk to your carrier. Ask to talk to someone in management. I have dealt a lot with carriers at the 800 numbers, and I kid you not, some of these people are literally reading from a script or manual cos I hear the pages turning. Also, ask to get that in writing (that you can use a non US Celluar provided unlocked phone). Another thing, if your unlocked phone goes down for any reason, US Cellular most likely will not provide service to repair or replace your phone.

And for the person dropping Verizon cos of the outrageous prepaid rates: I so agree. My daughter is on that plan, and they are almost as much as my contract. Alltel had pretty good rates for prepaid, I wish Verizon had integrated those plans with theirs. Unfortunately, my daughter loves to talk and text, so TracFone is not for her.

One more thing: When I had TracFone years ago, I had bought the double minutes for life of the phone, and I had also gotten a packet with discounts for each month (buy 100 min get a bonus 20, etc, all you had to do was enter a code). The phone would not honour my bonus minutes and wound up gypping me out of about 400 minutes. I called and got into a screaming match with the teller on the other line, when she said first the codes were invalid, and was I entering them into my phone wrong. No, I told her, I had the little booklet with the offers and codes in front of me. Then she accused me of flat out scamming. I had been a good customer for well over a year at that time, and had brought my husband and daughter to TracFone.
I eventually told her what I thought of her and her accusations and I told her that when our minutes ran out that I would NOT renew and I'd talk to everyone about TracFone and their scams.

Just be careful about unlocked phones. Make sure that your carrier will honour that phone and that it is compatible with your carrier.

Good luck to you, and if you can get good rates on any carrier, Bravo to you! ... View related article.

RE: Young Girl's Hair Styles
Having had both long and short hair, I can speak only for myself, but here is my opinion: Short hair can be great in the summer, easy to manage, great not to have that hair, even in a pony tail, on the neck. Imagine wearing a fur wrap around your neck on the hottest day of the year, ugh. Wash and go in a very short time. Look at other girls her age, are their hair lengths short, how about the actresses or singers she admires, are their styles short. Girls that age often want to emulate someone they admire, hair, dress, mannerisms.

Now for long hair. It is a true commitment. If she already does not like her hair brushed, imagine a few snarls in her hair, or if (heaven forbid) she gets gum in it. Also, very long hair (I could almost sit on my hair at one time) takes a long time to wash, and make sure you get all the soap out, then you have to creme rinse it, making sure you get all that out. Brushing it out can take 15 to 20 min, then putting it in a plait to keep it in some kind of order while sleeping.

Taking it out of the plait, brushing it again before getting dressed (and styling it, too) that in itself if she likes really styled hair can take an hour. In the summer, it is a downer, I don't know about others, but I shed my hair like a Persian cat. Hair everywhere. On clothes, furniture, in the shower drain, Thick long hair on the neck is torture in the summer (think of that wrap on your neck w/o much relief). However in winter, if you put your hair over your shirt but under your scarf, you can keep a bit warmer outside. Long hair is a real commitment.

Enjoy your little girl and her short hair. All too soon she is going to start experimenting with different styles in hair, clothing, make up and some boy is gonna steal her heart. She'll let you know when (or if) she wants to grow her hair.

One more thing: A little girl often feels like a big girl and boosts her self esteem when her parents not only make her own decision on her own style, but support her on those decisions, even if you'd like her to try something else. ... View related article.

RE: Improving Second Language Pronunciation
I read that most television anchors are taught to use a northern Ohio 'accent' because they don't have a discernible regional accent (such as a southern, Bronx, Massachusetts--especially Boston-- dialect) Watch your local, then national anchors.

Also, audio books on tape. Unless read by the author that has an accent, most books on tape are read by someone whose regional dialect is not prominent. Good luck. ... View related article.

RE: Online Pay Day Loans
The payday advance loans are a ripoff. They charge you interest rates that would normally be illegal in banks, If you needed the money in the first place, you will have to come up with the money to pay the finance company after you used the money for what you wanted it for in the first place, and then the interest! Trust me. You are better off borrowing from friends, family, or someone who is more than half a step up from loan-sharking. ... View related article.

RE: Organizing Financial Information
Great idea. You can also do that on flash drives. Keep one for your financial records, (you can keep it in a bank box or somewhere seperate). In case of natural diaster (we live in a hurricane hotspot).

Keep drives on each family member, recent photo, medical history and their information in case it is ever needed.

The drive is about the size of your finger, but it holds so much information, does not cost much, a 1GB is usually under ten dollars, but it can help so much

Keep a flash drive in your car with information that would help the police, EMS, or firefighters if you are ever in an accident and cannot respond to questions. (Don't forget to label the drive in the car ICE--in case of emergency.)
