I'm just your abnormal 58 year old divorced female. I like cooking, reading, gardening, nature when it's not hot.
I work full time to live, but enjoy my time off. I'd like to retire someday and travel all over the US riding rollercoasters. I figure I'll have to have a small RV because any other mode of travel would be too expensive. Can't wait for that!
I have a 20 year old married daughter who just gave me a grandson. Nana is ready to run, lol. It's supposed to be a boy and I don't know what to do with those little suckers! Give me a girl and I'll dress her up, teach her to cook, etc. Now, a boy, I don't do baseball, football, soccer, etc. Oh well, guess I'll learn.
I found that it makes a good base for the bottom of a bird cage. Also, if you are chesty like me, tear some off and paste it to your boob "shelf". Keeps you from staining your blouses. It's mostly colorless and isn't that noticeable when it's pressed to your shirts. Tear off after eating. ... View related article.
I've had an ATM card for years and rarely have a problem. When I first got mine, I started writing down any charge just as if it was a check (those things we used in the olden days). I put the date used, where and the amount in the spot for withdrawal. I enter deposits in the deposits spot and keep a running balance. The check registers are free at your bank. I mostly order printed deposit slips these days, but I keep them and a few checks in a regular checkbook, along with my debit card and "check" register. Since I got in the habit of doing that I rarely forget. It's still easier to use at a store than writing out a check, so I don't mind doing that and as I'm on a small budget, I certain can't afford the $40-$50 overdraft charges. ... View related article.
I only have a cell phone now and started carrying a local phone book in my car for when I need to run errands or whatever. I have the phone book and can pull over and look up numbers and track things down while on the go without wasting gas running from place to place looking for something.. ... View related article.
When I sign up for a newsletter such as Thrifty Tips, whatever user name and password I choose, I send myself an email with the name "Thriftytips", my user name and password or password hint in the "subject" line of the new email. Then, when I get the email I "save as" to a folder I called Memberships. Then, when I can't remember what I used, I open the Membership folder and find what I need alphabetically. It's right there and I don't even have to open the email.
I also put the Memberships folder on my quick launch toolbar to get into it quickly. ... View related article.
I thought about doing that years ago, but never had a way to do it. I also wondered how you would get the family to put their dirty laundry in there. I don't have room in my laundry room now, but if I ever get a chance to build a house, I'd do that very thing. I also thought about it being in the center, between all the bedrooms, with doors opening from the bedrooms into the "closet" with their clothes. In other words, the "closets" would have a door from the bedroom side and the "laundry/closet" room side. ... View related article.
In addition to wheatgerm in soups, you can add it to spagetti sauce. I've even added it to egg salad so I'm sure it would work in chicken, tuna, and salmon salads. It could be added to salmon croquettes too.
I also add Flax Seed Meal to a lot of stuff. That is supposed to be a cholesterol lowering product. I sprinkle it on salads, put in meatloaf, sauces, etc. It doesn't seem to affect the taste and you don't really notice any particular texture change. ... View related article.

Take one jar pineapple/apricot preserves and mix with white vinegar, just slightly to taste. Mix in a blender so preserves aren't chunky anymore. That's it! If you can't find combined preserves, just get apricot and pineapple and blend them 1/2 and 1/2. Otherwise just apricot with the vinegar. ... View related article.
I keep my toothbrushes in a glass filled to above the bristles in a mixture of 1/3 bleach 2/3 water. This also helps kill the germs from your mouth, colds, etc. Bleach is supposed to be the ONLY thing that really kills germs. The bleach has to stay in contact for at least 5 minutes but I just leave them there until needed again. (won't eat the brush or bristles) ... View related article.
