There is something called Care Credit that is sponsored by GE. You can apply for it as you would a credit card but you have to have an estimate on how much your dental work will cost. After that, if they approve you, you can pay it back over the course of 2 years without having to pay interest. Ask your dentist to give you information about it! ... View related article.
The dig them up advice is about as sound as you can get...Once you've done that, I would mulch and mulch frequently to keep them at bay. You can use dried leaves or grass clippings for mulch. Alternatively, you can purchase wood chips or straw. In some cities, you can go to the city dump after they have collected yard waste and get bags of grass clippings for free. Join a local freecycle group and post a request for mulch and you probably get more offers than you can handle -- all free, of course. I would be reluctant to use that on any food crops because you don't always know whether the person whose grass clippings you are getting used chemicals of any kind.
If you continually cultivate the soil around your perennials and keep it from getting compacted, it will be very easy to pull the few weeds that crop up when they do....The best advice is to keep at it so you don't wind up having to do a horrendous and back breaking weeding job all at once. ... I can help you. I am a soy candle maker, and this is my business. If you are interested, I can help you get the supplies that you will need. I only work with soy wax, so I am limited as to what I can do. If you want to make small votives or container candles, then I can help you get your supplies. Go to http://www.cwlight.com/skbeal. You will find the information you are looking for regarding supplies, and you will find out how to contact me. It's really fun, and very easy. Incidentally, paraffin is made from petroleum by products. The paraffin that is sold for making candles (not food grade paraffin,) comes from the bottom of oil barrels. This is the stuff that remains after the oil companies have taken what they want to refine and turn into gasoline. Paraffin also burns at a very high temperature, and that makes it possible for all sorts of toxins to be released into the air. Soy wax burns at a much lower temperature, and therefore burns for much longer than paraffin. In addition to being better for the environment, it is a renewable resource, and the production of soy wax is beneficial for American soybean farmers. ... View related article.
You should definitely plan on bringing at least two sets of sheets and towels, a blanket, bedspread, and pillows. You might also want a back rest pillow so you can read or study in bed. If you are going to live in the dorms, you probably won't need to have things like pots and pans and dishes, but you might want a coffee maker, or a hot pot. You should think of things you might like to have around for decorating your room. And if you are going to have to share laundry facilities, you might want to put name tags in your clothing (or use a sharpee to write your name in it.) When you bring things, think of things that you know will make your stay more comfortable. On the other hand, don't bring anything valuable. If you have to share a communal bathroom, you might want to bring a small bucket or basket that you can use to carry your toiletries to and from the bathroom. Also plan to take a robe, slippers, and comfortable clothing. Make sure you have an adequate supply of laundry soap, too. You might also want to have a radio/cd player, and even a television. If you don't want to have hassles with your roommates over phone bills, you might consider using a prepaid cell phone. The long and short of it is that you should think of things that you regularly use at home, and go from there. HTH ... View related article.
I found this really FABULOUS website that helps to get you going on a regular routine by helping you create your own schedule, but also by giving you daily reminders and motivational testimonials. It also gives you projects to do to de-clutter your home. The entire premise of this website, and the program from which it is derived is that you can do anything in 15 minute increments. Go to http://www.flylady.net I truly love this website, and it has helped me become immeasurably more organized, and it has helped me do some massive decluttering. Signing up for this program/group is completely free. They do sell products that help you become better organized, but you are never under any obligation to buy their products. In fact, they teach you how to assemble your own "office in a bag" and "control journal" by explaining everything you need to do to build it, what you need to include, etc. It will help you deal with what can seem so overwhelming, and you have different areas of your home to work on each week. There is no hard core hours of cleaning involved in this program, once you get a handle on things. If you are feeling overhwelmed and need some good, common sense advice, and a routine to follow so that you can keep things together, this is a great place to find that! HTH ... View related article.
I had an experience like this some time ago. I wound up needing very extensive work ( like $15,000 worth of work.) But the insurance I had wouldn't have covered it, so my generous mother wound up helping me. My husband had to have some extensive work done about six months ago, and we currently have dental insurance, but because the work he needed to have done existed prior to the time when we got the insurance, most of it wasn't covered. I agree with the recommendation about going to a university. If you live in a town with a large university, there's a good chance that they have a dental school. Dental Schools often provide very good care, but they offer sliding scales for their fees, and if that's not an option, if you live near a university hospital, they also sometimes have dental clinics within the hospital proper. They would also probably have sliding scale fees. Your best bet is to go to a state university hospital, because if you are a resident of the state, it's very likely that they will have to care for your husband, and they will also undoubtedly have some sort of social service program that helps people with limited incomes. Some towns also have free medical clinics, and they are sometimes able to provide dental care, or provide referrals. They can sometimes get funds from non-profit organizations such as the United Way to help pay for the type of services you might need. You can also contact the Department of Human Services for your county, and inquire about services for which you might qualify. Sometimes they even have funds or programs that are designed to help people in crisis situations. HTH ... View related article.
Try to find a suede brush, or suede stone and brush. The stone is used to remove the stains, and the brush returns the shoes to their former condition. If you live in a cold or rainy climate, you might want to consider getting a water proofing spray. You can find both the suede brush and spray at Walmart or any store like that. Look in the shoe section. By spraying the shoes with a waterproofing spray, you will also protect them from future stains. But you can use the stone and brush to clean them at any time. Suede or Nubuck don't do well in bad weather. A can of spray and a stone and brush will be a very worthwhile investment. HTH ... View related article.
The main thing I know about this type of begonia is that the tuber will rot if it gets too wet. The best way to water them is to put a saucer under the pot (preferably a terra cotta pot) and put the water into the saucer. The plant will drink the water from the bottom up, and that way, you won't over water it, and the tuber won't rot. I have always been under the impression that certain types of begonias can be made to continue blooming. I would feed it with a good plant food every several months. I prefer the longer acting kind. I would also continue to water it even when it isn't blooming. Just because it isn't blooming doesn't mean that the foliage and roots don't continue to need the nourishment. The flowers on these begonias are gorgeous, and look like little roses. If you care for it well, you can keep it growing for a very long time. As it gets larger, the roots will probably start to take over the pot, so you will probably need to consider repotting it in a year or two. I recommend repotting it when it is not blooming, so that you don't stress the plant at that critical time. I also recommend giving it plant food when you repot it. Good Luck. I envy you! I love tuberous begonias! ... View related article.
If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, they have amazing ginger gummi bears that are really delicious, and very full of ginger flavor. Unfortunately, I have never managed to find them anywhere but at Trader Joe's. They come in re-sealable packages, and the packages are small enough so that they don't take up a tremendous amount of space. ... View related article.
I would try ginger -- either in the form of small pieces of raw, peeled ginger root, crystalized ginger, ginger beer or ale (both non-alcoholic,) or ginger tea. You could keep a small jar with crystallized ginger by your bed, so that you don't have to get up to go looking for it. You could make the tea into an iced tea and keep a thermos full of it near your bed as well. I have used both raw ginger root and crystallized ginger for some majorly serious intestinal difficulties, and found it very helpful. ... View related article.
