| RE: Small Clay Pots for Crafts |
The only place I know of that sells them in various sizes is a Michael's store. We used to have a Michael's here in Lima, Ohio, but ever since they left Lima it is almost impossible to find anything you need for crafting. We have Joann Fabric and Hobby Lobby but neither even come close to what Michael's has to offer. It's a shame that you have to order online, things that you could and should be able to get at any good crafting store. If you want to check online - go to: michaels.com Hope this helps! ... | RE: Store Brand Cleaners |
|
I've tried two different generic store brands of bleach over the past three years on my whites. They both did not get the stains out of the clothes. I had used Clorox Liquid Bleach prior to this experiment. After the result of the stains still in the clothing (with the generic brand bleaches) I went back to the Clorox brand and will stick with it. With the generics I ended up using 1 and 1/2 cups per load and still the stains were not gone. With the Clorox brand I use 1 cup per load and the stains are gone, so in the long run I'm actually saving money by not having to use so much and the clothes are stain free. P.S. I'm not plugging for Clorox - just giving my experience with the different types used. ... View related article. |

| RE: Uses for Clothespins |
I do alot of knitting & crocheting using instructions I have put into see-through sheet protectors. When trying to follow line after line of instructions, it's hard to not lose your place. My remedy is this: Take a spring type clothespin, a popsicle stick and some wood glue (I use Titebond ll). Hold the clothespin open and put some glue onto one side (where it clips onto the clothes) and put the popsicle stick flat-side down on top of the glue. Be sure to wipe off excess glue (if there is too much), center it as to where you want it placed and close the open side down onto the popsicle stick. Let dry overnight...(I always let glue of any type dry for 24 hours). When it is ready, I use it to clip onto the side of my page of directions and use it as a line by line marker. I've made several to use as I always have more then one project going at any given time. Keep in mind that the marker does not go all the way across the page...but, all in all it works wonderfully (at least for me). =(^-^)= ... View related article. |

| RE: Cleaning Red Stain on Linoleum Floor |
|
My roommate had to replace some frozen, burst PVC pipes behind the tub enclosure this past winter. He used some dark purplish red stuff that had to be put onto the threads of the pipes to keep them from leaking when it dried. Well....you guessed it! He got it on the floor in several places and it stained badly. I couldn't get it up with anything I had on hand. So, I bought some acetone and put some on a paper towel and it came right up. The flooring is separate pieces of squares that adhere to the floor by pressing down on them. I don't know what the make up...(acrylic or linoleum) is considered. Anyway, the floor looks as good as new and it didn't hurt the finish either! ... View related article. |

| RE: Store Food Waste in Freezer Until Garbage Day |
|
Hi! Just wanted to say: "What a great idea!" What I've been doing for years to keep animals out of our trash after setting it out for trash day is this: either pour a small amount of ammonia (1/4th a cupful or a little bit more) directly into the filled bag itself and close it up OR after setting them curbside, pour that same amount over the top of the closed bags. Believe me...all animals stay away from it, as they do not like the smell and no more torn and scattered garbage or a big mess to clean up! ... View related article. |

| RE: Getting Rid of Mosquitoes, Flies and Bugs |
|
A friend of mine was having problems with critters - flies, spiders, etc. She found this stuff called Hot Shot for different types of critters ONLY at Lowes in our area. Nobody else around here carries it. Anyway, she has had no further problem after her purchase trying this remedy. She stated that it lasts for up to three months before having to repurchase more. I've not tried it myself. ... View related article. |

| RE: Making "Fresh Brush" Toilet Bowl Cleaner |
|
For too many years I used bleach as a cleaner for the toilet. Two years ago I started using nothing but white vinegar - approximately 1/2 cupful poured into the toilet bowl. It cleans really well, kills all germs and is not contaminating the water supply system. Plus, it is much cheaper in the long run to use. I have city water, even though I do not live in the city, so I do not know how well it would clean if you have hard water. After reading (this year) about all the contaminants in our water supply systems are over the USA, I only wish I had switched to this method years ago. ... View related article. |

| RE: Cheaper Alternative To Swiffer Wet Jet Pads |
Other alternatives to use can be knitted or crocheted (if you do either of these). Check out both of these sites for patterns:

If you sew, how about using old towels, denim, fleece scraps, mismatched socks, tulle or nylon netting for a cover? Any should do the work depending on what you prefer. Good Luck! ... View related article. |
