RE: Saving Money on Buying a Turkey
My mom buys 6 or 8 additional turkeys every year when they go on sale. She gets our family together several months out of the year and we have a turkey feast and family reunion. We all love having a "Thanksgiving Dinner" in July and it is a cheap way for Mom to feed us all. ... View related article.

RE: Dog is Tearing Up the Carpet
I have a female Boxer who would do that when I left and then eventually she turned to breaking windows to get out. I thought the same as everyone else here that she was having separation anxiety, she was already getting lots of exercise and attention, so I got her special toys and finally another playmate. She just taught him how to do it. I ended up putting her in a crate when I left which works fine. She is 4 year old now and has out grown this problem. ... View related article.

RE: Repairing a Touch Lamp
Just FYI you can also buy the little kits at menards that will make any (metal) lamps touch lamps. All you have to do is screw the little component into the light socket and then put the light bulb into that - takes like 45 seconds. ... View related article.

RE: Cigarette Smoke on Leather
I'm not sure if this will work but, you could try sealing the clothes in a garbage bag(with the hanger sticking out the top so you can still hang) and putting baking soda in the bottom of the bag to draw the smell out. I would think this would be worth trying, inexpensive and safe for you items. Good Luck ... View related article.

I have used lighter fluid to remove magic marker when my kids were little. Just make sure you do a color fastness test on the back where nobody will see it. ... View related article.

RE: Dog Urine Smell on Hardwood Floors
I raise boxer puppies, so you can well imagine that I have encountered urine smells before. The best product I have found is called OUT! You can buy the small bottle at Wal Mart for $8.50 or a whole gallon at Kmart for $12.00. You just spray it on the floor and let it dry (it has never left a stain). It has an enzyme neutralizer in it, plus it smells very pleasant and fresh. I spray it on furniture, curtains and carpet. I even put it in my carpet cleaner. Works great for cat urine too. ... RE: Dog Has Recently Become Aggressive
I raise boxer puppies so I have been through this several times. Most females will become aggressive with pups in the house. No matter who was "boss" before, the mother will always be the dominant one when pups are around, which is cause for the fighting. Hormones are also running rampant. Give your girls some time apart and when the pups have all been placed in new homes, your girls should get along fine. Make sure that you don't keep putting them together, if they fight often enough, they may never forget that they're mad.
Good Luck ... View related article.

RE: Cat Urine Smell on Hardwood Floors
I raise boxer puppies, so I know the frustration with the smell of urine. The best thing that I have found is called OUT!. You can purchase this at wal-mart in a small bottle for $8.50 and I have also found it at K-mart in a gallon jug for $12. Just spray it on the hard wood floors and let it sit for 10-15 mins and then mop the floors as usual. It actually neutralizes the odor instead of covering it up.

My friend had the same problem with cat urine. I took over a bottle and she sprayed on the floors... 3 hours later the house was rid of all the smell.

I swear by this stuff... I keep a gallon on hand at all times. It actually smells real nice too so I also use it as refresher on the curtains, furniture etc. ... View related article.
